Kid Reporter Contest Final Justin M.: Super Bowl LI!

With Superbowl LI being hosted by the city of Houston in 2017, the home team Houston Texans could be the first team in NFL history to ever play and possibly win the championship game in their home stadium!

Several spectacular moments defined the 2015-2016 Texans season making it definitely one for the record books. Head Coach Bill O’ Brien and his group of coaches lead the team to an AFC South Division Championship, the team’s first division title since 2012.

Several key players had history making plays and numbers and JJ Watt #99, received his 3rd Defensive Player of the Year award. The 2016 draft class shows much promise. Adding 2 new wide receivers, a running back, an offensive center, a defensive tackle, and a safety provides young blood for the team. Several players were also acquired through the trades and free agency. The much needed position of quarterback is now filled with the face of Brock Osweiler #17.

The combination of the existing roster along with the new class will add a strategic depth to the team. Training camp was spectacular! Being part of the Houston Texans Kids Club, I was able to attend the camp and witness the team in action. QB Brock Osweiler shares a mind reading connection with WR DeAndre Hopkins #10 as the passes are thrown and caught with ease. Hopefully this will continue during the regular season resulting in game winning plays. The defensive line is a beast! OLB Whitney Mercilus #59 is stepping up to the plate along side fellow defensive line teammate LB Brian Cushing # 56 to stop anyone who dares to get through.

Although DE J.J. Watt is sidelined, there is no doubt he will be on the road to another spectacular defensive and possibly offensive year! MVP!!! The 2016-2017 Houston Texans team is definitely a team to watch this season. Often overlooked by the rest of the league, the country is about to discover what the home fans already know….the Texans are going to dominate this year and the fans are going to have a great ride!
