Super Bowl Predictions

Poll. Who will win the big game?

It's that time of year again. Every football fan in the world gathers to watch the greatest sporting spectacle on earth, the Super Bowl. However even before the game is played, everyone has an opinion on who is going to win, and I am no stranger to this. I'm ready to voice my opinion on who I think will win Super Bowl XLVIII and why.

So who do I think is going to win? It is certainly hard to say but I am going to say the Seattle Seahawks. There are many reasons also to argue why the Broncos will win, but if you think outside of football terms, I think the Seahawks have a huge advantage in this game because of the weather. Now I know many of you might me groaning at the fact that I am mentioning this but it is in fact a very big factor. The old theory states that Peyton Manning cannot play in the elements. Whether you choose to believe or not is your opinion but all past evidence points to this theory being true. Think back to games against the Patriots in the past, the Ravens just a year ago, you name it. When it has come time for Peyton to play in big games, in the elements, he has failed to perform. This weekend, it's certainly looking like it will be one of those games.

So here's my bold prediction: the Seahawks' league best defense will come out strong and set the tone. Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and the rest of the Hawks' stellar defense will shut down the Broncos receivers (not to mention it will be very difficult to throw the ball in the possible snow), forcing them to go to the ground where the Seahawks run defense, led by Chris Clemons will force turnovers. From there Beast Mode will tear up the Broncos D for 100+ yards and 2 TDs and be Super Bowl MVP.

Do you guys have different opinions? I'm sure you do so drop a vote on who you think is going to take it, and let me know why in the comments!

Kid Reporter: Josh Gordon is EN FUEGO!!!

Who is the hottest receiver in the NFL today? No it's not Megatron, no it's not Andre Johnson, it's Josh Gordon of the Cleveland Browns, an unsung receiver until this season, in which he has made a name for himself in every possible way. For those of you who haven't heard about him, where have you been? Gordon has just set an NFL record: he is the first receiver in NFL history to boast back-to-back 200+ receiving yard games, with 14 receptions for 237 yards against Pittsburgh, and 10 rece

For those of you who haven't heard about him, where have you been? Gordon has just set an NFL record: he is the first receiver in NFL history to boast back-to-back 200+ receiving yard games, with 14 receptions for 237 yards against Pittsburgh, and 10 receptions for 261 yards against Jacksonville, a franchise record.

The only question left to be asked is: Is Josh Gordon containable? And judging by his season stats, it appears he isn't. 64 receptions for 1,249 yards and 7 touchdowns, and as he comes to Gillette Stadium to visit my Patriots, there's no doubt I'm nervous about him. Can the Patriots contain Josh Gordon? Will he bring a 3rd straight 200 yard game and lead the Browns to an upset win? I certainly hope not, but leave what you think in the comments of this phenomenal receiver!

Kid Reporters: Clash of the Tight Ends

We may see a great battle this week between arguably the two best tight ends in the league when the Saints visit Foxboro to take on my Pats!   This incredible matchup will be between Jimmy Graham and possibly Rob Gronkowski, that's right, ROB GRONKOWSKI. He has been gone since last season due to injury, but early signs this week say that he may be returning this week. This is great news for New Englanders, as we now have our best offensive weapon back and Brady's favorite target. This will be such a great matchup because you have two of the top 5 quarterbacks in the NFL going head to head, and the two best tight ends. Saints tight end Jimmy Graham is also on pace to break Gronkowski's single-season record for receiving yards for a tight end, raising the stakes even higher!

This is may be the game of the week here in the NFL, as we have two Super Bowl contenders, with two high-powered quarterbacks, and two monstrous tight ends going head to head. Fasten your seatbelts everyone, because Gronk could be back this week.

Kid Reporter: Richardson in Blue! Benefits and Drawbacks

In this blockbuster move Trent Richardson has been dealt to Indianapolis in exchange for the Colts' 2014 1st round draft pick. This has everyone buzzing over the debate of who came out on the better side of this deal, and I'm ready to voice my opinion.

Now many of you will think that this is a no-brainer: the Colts got the better deal, but do not jump to conclusions, as there are many ways that the Browns can benefit from this trade as well. Although the Browns did lose their franchise player and their #1 running back, the burden of carrying Cleveland was just too much for Richardson alone. Trent Richardson was virtually the Browns' only weapon on offense, so defenses were able to limit him by keying in on him. This is exactly why they had to make this move. The Browns are in a full rebulding stage, and a player like Richardson is only wasted when he has so little help around him, so the Browns used his trade value to grab the Colts' 1st round pick. This could be extremely beneficial to the Browns as now they have 2 picks in the 1st round for 2014, and that means they could get what they are really looking for: a franchise quarterback.

Bottom Line: The Browns did lose a crucial all-pro caliber running back, however, the first round pick they received is a big part of their rebuild, and could greatly help them in the long run.

Now as for the Colts in this trade, there is no question that this helps their team substantially. Already a great playoff contender without Richardson, the Colts become even more powerful with this acquisition, as their offense is bolstered in a big way. With Vick Ballard out for the season, the Colts needed a running back, and who better for the job than Trent Richardson. Not only does he greatly bolster their rushing attack, but he takes the pressure off quarterback Andrew Luck, which could lead to even greater success in the passing game.

Bottom Line: The Colts have just received the player who could push them over the edge into becoming one of the best, if not the best, team in the AFC. Yes, they did lose great a draft pick, but they got Richardson, and their focus is the Super Bowl, which just might be where they'll go.

How would you grade this trade for both teams? Let us know in the comments who will benefit more from this blockbuster deal!

Kid Reporter: 3 Fantasy Tips

Hey NFL Rushers! As the NFL season draws near, NFL RUSH Fantasy Football is finally back. I have a few tips that may help your team become the best!   1. Always pay attention to weekly matchups. Hey NFL Rushers! As the NFL season draws near, NFL RUSH Fantasy Football is finally back. I have a few tips that may help your team become the best!

1. Always pay attention to weekly matchups. This is very important in NFL RUSH Fantasy because you can pick anyone you wish, so you want to take a close look at the matchups.

For example, if your starting runningback is playing against a great defense such as the 49ers or the Seahawks, chances are he may be shut down, and his fantasy points will suffer. My suggestion is you look at all your options for the selected position, and find which one has the best chance of doing well with the team he is up against.

2. Avoid picking all your players from the same team. I know all of you are big supporters of your favorite team, but this can be a common mistake in fantasy leagues. Never choose all of your players from one team because it is very rare for all of them to do well in the same week. If your QB, RB, WR, and TE are all from the same team, the offense has to have an amazingly explosive day for all of them to reach the endzone.

3. Don't always pick the best players from the previous week. It is always very tempting to pick all the players who did well the week before, and on some occasions this does work, but not always.

If the #1 QB from the week before tore apart a poor defense, don't immediately jump straight to picking him. Look at how he fared against better defenses, and how his matchup looks this week to make the right decision.

I hope these tips helped all of you on your way to creating your dream team each week, and I wish all of you good luck as you hope to climb the leaderboards of NFL RUSH Fantasy Football.

How Will Tim Tebow Be Utilized?

Poll. How Will Tim Tebow Be Utilized?

As many of you have recently heard, the New England Patriots have just signed Tim Tebow, but the big question is, where will he play and how will he be utilized?

Although Tebow has come into the depth chart as a 3rd string quarterback, it is doubtful that Tebow will ever become a quarterback again. He has many problems throwing the ball with accuracy, and the Patriots already have Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett. The aspect of Tebow that I believe can be utilized is his size, strength, and ability to run the ball. With those aspects, I believe there are a few positions where Tebow could work within the offense.

The first is the wildcat formation. Bringing Tebow in could help New England's offense incorporate a wildcat formation to their offense because of Tebow's size and strength. He could run the ball out of the formation, and even fake the run and throw the ball if need be.

The second position I believe he could fit in is the fullback position. At the fullback position, he could help take some of the pressure off Tom Brady by improving the offense's running game with his blocking ability.

The final position where he could be successful is on special teams. Last season we saw him being used by the Jets mainly on special teams. He fit in very well, making tackles and also being used as a blocker for the return game.

Who knows what Bill Belichick's plan is for Tebow? At this point, I'm uncertain, but I'd love to hear all you guys' input about Tebow in the comments section. How do you think he will be utilized?

The Top Remaining Free Agents

Poll. Who is the best remaining Free Agent?

We are approaching the NFL Draft and many notable players still haven't signed a contract. Out of all the unsigned free agents, there are three standout players that I have chosen to be the most valuable.

The first of the top free agents is Safety Charles Woodson. Woodson, although nearing the end of his career, can still be a shutdown corner or a very reliable safety. The former Heisman led the league in interceptions in both 2009 and 2011. He is still a great choice for a secondary, and it will be interesting to see who he signs with this offseason.

The second of the standouts is defensive end Dwight Freeney. Freeney is a former Indianapolis Colt and a seven-time pro bowler. Freeney led the NFL in sacks in 2004 and has a total of 107.5 sacks on his career. Although not singed yet, the two teams who are interested in Freeney are the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos.

The final of the three is linebacker Brian Urlacher. Urlancher, 34, is an eight-time pro bowler and holds the Bears' franchise record for career tackles with 1,353. Urlacher is a great asset on defense, however, he is struggling to find a team. The Bears aren't resigning him and he is running out of other options.

These are just three of the remaining notable unsigned free agents, and there are plenty of others. I suggest keeping a close eye on all the action in the market.

The Best Division in Football

Poll. What is the best division in football?

There are many different divisions in the NFL, and all of them have at least one good team. But which one is the strongest? In my opinion, it is the NFC North.

If you take a look at the NFC North division, there isn't one weak spot to be found. Although the last place Lions had a dismal season finishing 4-12, they could contend for the division title any given year. 2 years ago, they found themselves a playoff spot.

In third place, you have the Chicago Bears at 10-6. I can't imagine how a 10-6 team could possibly come in third, but that's what makes this division so good. In any other division, a 10-6 team would most likely make the playoffs, but because of the strength of the NFC North, the Bears just missed it.

Coming in second place are the 10-6 Minnesota Vikings. Just beating out the Bears by a slim margin last season, the Vikings proved that they were not just a team built upon Adrian Peterson. Great players such as wide receiver Percy Harvin and quarterback Christian Ponder played key roles in the Vikings’ run to the playoffs.

Finally, the best team in this division is the Green Bay Packers. Led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Packers have always been known as one of the strongest teams in the NFL. The Packers won the Super Bowl just 3 years ago, and 2 years ago, they went 15-1. This team is all about winning and they are always strong contenders for the Lombardi Trophy.

Where Will Brian Urlacher End Up?

Poll. Which team will sign Brian Urlacher?

The NFL Free Agency is in full swing, and there are still questions as to where the Chicago Bears’ 8-time pro bowl linebacker Brian Urlacher will end up. Urlacher has recently rejected a one-year, $2 million dollar proposal from the Bears. It was reported that Urlacher was hoping for a one-year contract worth between $3.5 million and $4 million. The limited free agency market for linebackers certainly isn't helping Urlacher either, as there are younger players such as Karlos Dansby and Elvis Dumervil who could possibly be more productive. As for the teams that are interested in Urlacher, it has come down to the Minnesota Vikings and the Dallas Cowboys, which is certainly not what Urlacher was hoping for. Both teams are continuing to lose interest in the 34-year-old, as the Cowboys already have a premier linebacker in Sean Lee, and Minnesota is not willing to spend big money on Urlacher.

This situation definitely does not favor Urlacher, and there are still question marks surrounding the linebacker. Where do you think the he will end up?

The Greatest Draft "Steal" of All-Time

There were 198 players drafted before one of the greatest of all-time. As draft time approaches, I thought I'd recognize the greatest draft "steal" of all-time: Tom Brady. Everyone knows Tom Brady, but not many people know the full story behind this Hall of Fame Quarterback. During his college career at Michigan, he struggled to get playing time (at one point, he was seventh on the depth chart). After watching his first two seasons in college  from the bench, Brady was named the starter in his Junior year. Despite going 20-5 in his college career and winning the Orange Bowl, many teams were still not impressed with Brady. When draft time came around, Brady sat and waited while 198 players heard their names called. He was selected with pick #199, a compensatory pick, in the sixth round of the draft. Brady started the season as the 4th string quarterback, and during his rookie year, he went 1 for 3 passing, for 6 yards. The next season, after a Drew Bledsoe injury, Brady stepped in as starter and never looked back. He won 3 Super Bowls in his first 4 seasons as starter, solidifying his legacy as one of the greatest of all-time.

My Favorite Play of the Super Bowl

My favorite play of the Super Bowl was the first play of the second half.   The 49ers were going to kick the ball to the Ravens to begin the half. David Akers kicked the ball way down the field, and Jacoby Jones settled under it 8 yards deep in the endzone. At first I immediately thought that it would be a touchback, but to my surprise, he started to return the ball out of the endzone. He set a Super Bowl record with the 108-yard kickoff return for a touchdown!
