Kid Reporter Sebastian: My Experience at the Redskins Game!

So this past weekend, I got the chance to check out the Redskins playoff game at FedEx Field…

As, I’m sure you know, the Redskins lost, sadly. However, the experience I had this weekend was pretty awesome. I’ll be telling you guys about the entire experience, as well as recapping the game, and giving you my opinion, as to why they lost. Without further ado, let’s dive right in!

Let’s work our way up to the actual game, we’ll start with our arrival in D.C., staying at the same hotel as the Redskins, and then the game itself…

My family left Friday night at around 5 PM, we ended up at our hotel at around 9 PM, the drive itself, was only around 4 hours, and wasn’t as bad as it sounded. Once, we arrived at the hotel we hung out around the lobby, walked around, and checked out the local area… The next morning was quite uneventful, we basically ate breakfast, and walked a bit more.

The seats that we managed to score were amazing, we were located in the fifth row behind one of the end zones, situated near where the Redskins exited their locker room. We got hats stating that the Redskins were the 'NFC East Champions,' and some towels with the famous "You Like That?!" quote from Kirk cousins on them.

We awoke Sunday morning- the morning of the big game to go hang around the conference rooms to meet up with our friend again, while we waited, we got to see some players and coaches walking about. Some of the coaches included the defensive coach, a few assistant coaches, and namely, Jay Gruden, the head coach walking towards the first level…

We also got to see glimpses of Jordan Reed and Ricky Jean-Francois. We then met up with our friend again and talked about the game… From there, we went to eat breakfast on the main floor of the resort. We hung around in our room, until around 1 PM, when we started getting ready for the game, and started putting on our team gear. At around 1:30, we left the hotel to go to the stadium.

When we arrived at FedEx Field, we made our way down to the field, after some difficulty, we finally made it down. We hung around the field, surrounded by the likes of news crews, Redskins 'celebrities,' and Redskins veterans- it was an electrifying experience. We hung out by the field for a good two hours, before security was forced to "kick us off" the field. From there, we found our seats and waited for kickoff. We didn’t have to wait too long, before the game started.

The beginning of the game just seemed to be better for the Redskins, we were up… Then it happened… It seemed to be a sure touchdown, everything about the touchdown looked legitimate, nothing that would seem to suggest that it was anything but six points for the‘Redskins. However, like always, the referees reviewed the touchdown and they decided that the touchdown did not count for anything. From there, everything seemed to go downhill…

It just seemed that morale seemed to disappear into thin air… Whether, it was the great amount of penalties that the Redskins seemed to accumulate. Nothing seemed to be looking up for the Redskins… Aaron Rogers and the rest of the Packers seemed to know this, and they took full advantage of it, and it showed… Their defense started to hold back our Redskins, which killed the Redskins.

The low self-esteem showed up in our defense, the defense that started to let the Packers through. During the third quarter my family worked our way up to the club to warm up from the freezing temperatures outside. After a few minutes, we worked our way back down to the field again… Everything seemed to be going wrong after that, however, during the fourth quarter, it did seem like we had a chance, but the Packers managed to ruin that for the Redskins. That’s when we decided that the game was over, there was nothing that the Redskins could do to take back the game, and during the 2 minute warning, my family made our way back to our parking spot in the Platinum area, and got ready to leave…

If I were told to describe the game in one word, I would use: "Disappointing."

Hopefully, next year, the Redskins will go further into the playoffs, and manage to become a dangerous team in the NFL… It didn’t happen this year, but, you know, there’s always next year.

Kid Reporter Sebastian: Playoffs and the Redskins

Poll: Kid Reporter Sebastian: Playoffs and Redskins
Hey Everybody,

It's been awhile since I've been on NFLRUSH, and I wanted to formally apologize for that. I’ve been busy with the start of middle school, and playing center for my school’s team. But, anyways, here I am! And what better time to jump back into the swing of things, than the start of the playoffs! We've all been waiting to see if our teams would make it to the playoffs, and some did, while others did not, however, my Redskins did…

To celebrate this fact, let's take a look at the Redskins season so far, and hope for an even longer season.

We'll mainly be focusing on the Redskins journey, this season, to get to this playoff game… Before their Week 8 bye, things were looking dismal for the Redskins. They had only accomplished to win a mere three games, something that would definitely hurt overall team morale for the remainder of the season. Things were not exactly looking up for starting QB, Kirk Cousins…

After the bye week, the season was looking no better, there were a few wins, and a few losses, the season, so far, could best be described as spotty at best. Meanwhile, at the same time, the rest of the NFC East, was also in chaos. As for the Redskins, that was actually a good thing, since, that meant they may have a chance at becoming the number one seed in the NFC East…

That thinking must have clicked with the Redskins after their loss against their number one rival, the Cowboys, on December 7. All of sudden, there was something to look up to, something to fight for, something to strive for. And strive, the Redskins did, for the next four weeks, the next month, the Redskins did nothing but that. And "Fight on, till they won" they did… It started with a close game with the Bears, 21-24… They then beat the Bills, 25-35… This the point where the Redskins actually thought that they could have an actual chance at the playoffs, if they continued to play the same way for the next two weeks.

Motivating the Redskins further, was the fact that they would be playing their division rivals, the Eagles and Cowboys. When it came to the Eagles game, DeSean Jackson was in the spotlight, as he would be facing the team that "dumped" him after a small dispute… Nobody knows for sure, if this propelled Jackson to play even better, but the game certainly suggested that. The Redskins managed to beat the Eagles, in Philadelphia, 38-24. They then went on to play the Cowboys, in a somewhat, relaxed, and uneventful game, that yielded another win in Dallas, 34-23. And now, they'll be playing the Packers this Sunday as a Wild Card game.

Now that we have ended the season, quite crazily, the only thing that we can hope for is a win on Sunday in D.C., and another great season in 2016. I'll be at the game, on Sunday, and will be reporting on the experience, as soon as I can.

Kid Reporter Sebatian: The Two-Minute Fit Plan

Hey Everybody,

I hope that you are all having a wonderful summer so far. I wanted to share my fool-proof plan to stay fit this summer. I call it the "The Two Minute Fit Plan."

What I'm doing now is mowing the lawn, and other labor extensive chores. I play football with my family every night. In a few weeks I will be starting my school's football program while training to be the team's center.

To adapt this plan to your lifestyle, simply find something that you can do around the house (e.g. mowing the lawn). Play around with your family, and or, friends by throwing a ball, playing catch, or going for walks. Next, sign up for a class or sport at your local community recreation center. They usually have great programs that let you have fun while working up a good sweat.

Be sure to also check out the NFL PLAY 60 website. It has some great information and tips to help you.

So while you have a great summer don't forget to take two minutes to follow this plan, and have a healthy summer.

I'd love to hear from you. Tell me how you plan on staying fit this summer and exercising in the comments.

Favorite Part of Playing Football

I always lose my breath and exhale, when putting on my helmet, not because I know I'll be entering a battlefield, but because I know that I'll be doing something that I love.

There's always that dreaded month, known as August. You dread it because you'll have to abide by the weight restrictions, work your self (to the point of crying), and getting yelled at for not doing it right. However, you know that soon enough, you'll be playing that game you have come to love, football. You also know: This is all good for you, you're Playing 60, and you're working those muscles, best of all you're not playing video games.

Then before you know it, you're in your first game, and you're going to be playing against some of the best. You hear the familiar "Red, set, HUT!" And you know that you have to get out of your stance and hit the person in front of you. You hit him, and the QB has a fleeting second to hit the Tight End. And he does so successfully, allowing the receiver to run. And run he does, (you and the rest of the crowd egg him on); "RUN, RUN, RUN!" Every good thing has to come to an end, and this is no exception. The opposing team successfully (after some combined effort) brings down the ball carrier.

28-24, the opposing team on top. Better try harder next time, you win some and you lose some. Hey, you did well, you were close. If it weren't for that one fumble, your team would have ended up on top. You walk up the stands to meet the coach for a short talk. The parents hand out Gatorade and Popsicles, which you thoroughly enjoy in the blistering heat. "You guys played surprisingly well," the coach booms. "Yes, we may of made a few mistakes, but you guys did one heck of a job out there. Jack, the way you juked yourself out the defense, that was amazing! Marco, the way that you knocked that guy down was perfect form. I just want you that I'm proud of you, and that we have a practice Monday morning at 6 AM!" (Everybody grumbles and complains).

You can't wait for next week! Coach promised at least 20 suicides for that loss!

Kid Reporter: How Would You Change the Redskins?

Let's say you could change the Redskins and turn them into a Super Bowl team, how would you change them? So the first thing I would do to change the starting quarterback (RGIII). I would make the starting quarterback, Kirk Cousins, I would do this because RGIII is a vital player. The Redskins already have a horrible record, 3-7, in order to prevent (fragile) RGIII from getting hurt, I would take this step to insure his safety. The next thing I would do is take Brian Orakpo (LB) out of the picture. I would simply do this because he is currently injured and is an even more important player than RGIII. He has taken over the team as the defensive leader, and in order for the Redskins to have a good next season. Lastly I would fire Kai Forbath (K), I would do this because he just never gets the ball through the poles. He may have a percentage of 83.3%, I know that sounds good, but he never lives up to those expectations. Those are the three things I would do to make the Redskins (hopefully) a better team.

Kid Reporter: Robert Griffin III or Johnny Manziel?

Robert Griffin III or Johnny Manziel? Both were once supposed to revolutionize the football industry, yet one is on a bench and the other is out on an injury? What's up with this?!? RGIII was at once probably the best player in the whole NFL, but then on December 9, 2012...disaster struck. Griffin ran for 13-yards, yet as the announcer said RGIII isn't a RB, he's a QB, so he doesn't know how to get down when he should. Yet, this is what led to RGIII receiving a torn ACL After this, Griffin never played as he did in the beginning of the season ever since...and he is injured once again and rumored to not return for a while, as his injury is severe. What Manziel could learn about this is that a player could be "hot stuff" one day and the next benched. As it turns out, this is what happened to "Johnny Football". Yet...a big mistake Manziel was that he believed he was ready for the NFL, a few years too early, as you can see. Manziel has only had one snap this regular season, and that snap was a complete flop. He didn't even complete the pass, and he is currently being benched. If I had to have one of them on my team I would probably choose Griffin. Even though Griffin is currently injured, he has a few years on the field and a lot more snaps that Manziel. But, I'll ask you that question as well: Who would you rather have on your football team Griffin or Manziel? Tell me why you chose that person in the comments bar to the right. And if you have any other QB matchups who could learn something from each other post in the comments bar too.

Kid Reporter: Ravens vs 49ers: A Repeat of Super Bowl XLVII?

The Harbaugh Brothers will rival once again, in a Week 1 Preseason game. As most of you probably remember the Ravens and 49ers rivaled each other in the 2012 Super Bowl, the Ravens won that game 34-31. The Ravens barely won, but no one doubted that they could win from the start of the game. Yet the Ravens didn't do too well during the 2013 Season. They played a brutal 8-8 season, not too bad but not too good either. On the other hand the 49ers played extremely well during the 2013 Season, their score was 12-4 (A very impressive score). Now if the Ravens and 49ers played each other in Super Bowl XLVIII, the result probably would have been entirely different. The score probably would have looked like this: 35-3, San Francisco. Now if John Harbaugh didn't toughen the Ravens up during this offseason the score is probably going to end up looking the way I expected it to. What do you think (tell me in the comments bar)?

Kid Reporter: This Year: RGIII

Last year, RGIII didn't play too well because of the following environments he was put in: RGIII and Mike Shanahan were rumored to have a bad relationship and didn't agree on all the game conditions. RGIII didn't have a full recovery that season and because of this he wasn't as seasoned as all the other NFL players. He also wasn't as familiar with the program as he is now. Those were just the downsides that RGII had last year that gave him a disastrous last season. This year RGIII is refreshed and ready start and strong. Not to mention this year he had a full off-season. Hopefully, this year he won't be injured again. This year RGIII has a brand new coach: Jay Gruden. He also has an awesome receiver: DeSean Jackson! So as you can see RGIII is: reenergized, powered up, ready, strong, and in a perfect condition to leave everybody eating his dust.

Johnny Football

Poll. Do you think that Johnny Football will make it in the NFL?

By now most of you have probably heard of Johnny Manziel. Some other people may recognize him as his trademark: Johnny Football or The House That Johnny Built. You know that this man is going to go far. Though, some might say he has too big a house for his health. I still think that he will go really far in his NFL career. You just have to look at his Wonderlic score, a 32!!! The highest ever recorded Wonderlic score was a 40! So, just by looking at this you can tell he will be great!!! I think that the Houston Texans should draft him and then trade. They really don't need him. They need Clowney or anther D player to join the Watt. One of the only downsides to Manziel is that he is really small, and there are questions in regards to if he can take the hits in the NFL. Overall, I think that he will make it really far in the NFL.

Draft + Redskins = A Good Next Season???

Poll. What do you think the Redskins need to hopefully make far in the season?

As most of you already know the Redskins did not really play good last year, but we could blame this on Mike Shanahan (Ex-Head Coach of the Redskins). The Redskins were supposed to get a #2 overall pick in the draft, but due to getting RGIII they will have to fork this over to the Rams. But, guess what? The Redskins signed Desean Jackson so as NFL NETWORK said "it is almost like they got that draft spot back." And you know what, it actually might turn out to be that way. But, one of the things that the Redskins need to improve on is having bigger and bulkier offensive line. One of the specific players that we may get is a tackle form Alabama. Well, it looks like all our lines need work including the Defensive and Offensive positions. One of the areas that that Washington greatly struggles in is the Defense. So, when we come to the end of it we ask ourselves if this equation is true or false: Draft + Redskins = A Good Next Season?

Redskins+Combine=Playoffs???

Poll. What do you think the Redskins need the most to get a playoff berth?

As you might have seen last year the Redskins DID NOT play well at all. This year what the Redskins need is a playoff berth to just send hope throughout the organization and hopefully continue it.

Since, RGII got crushed last year in the pocket, we will need some hard hitting O-Line. We have a good receiver: Pierre Garcon, but we need more of these types. We used to have London Fletcher (my favorite player), but since he retired we will need a couple of good linebackers. We have horrible safetyso we should invest in a couple more to make our lowly ranked defense higher (hopefully).

These are what we will need to hopefully get a playoff berth. I will like to see Johnny Manziel in the combine, we'll see if is just another great college football player, but a not so good NFL player.

Jay Gruden

Poll. Do you think this will be a positive enforcement for the Redskins?

Then NFL has fired and hired many staff members this off-season. My favorite team, The Washington Redskins, hired a new head coach, Jay Gruden. Before he was a head coach he was the offensive coordinator for The Cincinnati Bengals. I am sort of looking forward to what this coach may bring to the table. The only thing that may concerns me is the way that the Bengals played in the wildcard game against the San Diego Chargers. The score ending up being 10-27. What I do like though, is that he has no doubt that RGIII will be the starter. Overall, I think that this will be a positive improvement for the Redskins organization.

Broncos vs Chargers

Poll. Who do you think will win the Broncos vs. Chargers game?

This week the 13-3 Broncos take on the 10-7 Chargers. Despite, the difference in stats and all the talk going on around the league I believe that the San Diego Chargers will win this game. This is simply because the Chargers have the momentum and fans (the city is going crazy) to win the game. Another one of the advantages that the Chargers have is that the Chargers head coach used to be the Broncos offensive coordinator. Even though this game will be played at Mile High, I predict that there will be more Chargers jerseys than expected.

Since, the Broncos recently just had a bye week, they may be a little sleepy and get a huge wake-up call from San Diego. As most of us know an offensive coordinator cannot change a whole lot in one or two years, because of this the Chargers know some of the Denver Broncos secrets. Even though, all the talk is against what I am saying. Go Chargers!

Kid Reporter: Cowboys vs Eagles

This week in critical Do or Die situation the Cowboys will be playing the Eagles. The Cowboys (8-7) and the Eagles (9-6) will be fighting for a first place in the NFC East.   It isn't looking good for the Cowboys because their QB, Tony Romo, is injured! So, instead of Romo, their backup, Kyle Orton, will be playing. He say limited playing time last game in a loss to the Chicago Bears (28-45). He say limited playing time last game in a loss to the Chicago Bears (28-45). Unlike Romo, I don't think that Orton will be able to pull it together in the end of the game for a win. I do think that Eagles' high-powered O from Sunday will be able to pull together for a win. With the NFL's #1 RB (LeSean McCoy), I think that they will bring in a lot of 6s in such a critical game. I overall think that the Eagles will win this game, maybe not by a lot, but still win it.

Kid Reporter: Saints vs. Panthers

Last week the Saints beat the Panthers in a surprising win: 31-13. This was the game that was going to determine the first place in NFC South. This makes the Panthers seem weak and easy to beat. Despite their stats and record, this looks bad for the Panthers. Some people might think the Panthers luck has worn off, but I think it was just a off-week.   Some people are also wondering about the Saints. Are the Saints still a strong team after their bad loss against Seattle? I believe that the

Some people are also wondering about the Saints. Are the Saints still a strong team after their bad loss against Seattle? I believe that the Saints are still a strong, team most teams lose against the Seahawks so I don't think that this really affected them. I don't think that anybody will turn into Seattle during the playoffs, but anything can happen, right? Were you surprised that the Saints won this game so easily?

Kid Reporter: Panthers vs Saints

This Sunday two 9-3 teams will face each other for first place. The two teams are the Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints. According to stats, the Saints should have this game in the bag. The Saints defense will also have to stop the Panthers running game. In order for the Panthers to win this game they will have to focus more on Newton's throwing game and also hit Brees, hard too. This sounds like a good game to watch and to see. Who do you think will win?

Kid Reporter: Brady vs Manning

Last week, two great QBs played against each other. This rivalry itself is a big thing, but when the temperature is 20 degrees and the winds are MPH is 20, you look at a difficult game. According to stats the better player of the game was Tom Brady. To be honest, I thought the better QB was Peyton Manning and that the Broncos would win. But, if you saw the game or if you saw the highlights in the beginning you would have probably thought the same as me.

In the third quarter it was 24-0, with the Broncos winning. In this game there was something that everybody could predict: FUMBLES! This was a huge issue for the Patriots in the opening quarter. One of the backs for the Patriots is facing the dangers of losing his position because he has fumbled the ball three times in a row. The Broncos get their first seven on defense. When you thought it couldn't get any worse for the Patriots it does. What you might have thought to be a sack turns out to a fumble. One of the Broncos ends up getting the ball and running it to the Patriots ten. This leads to another touchdown for the Broncos.

Another one of the Patriots fumbles it again. The Broncos get the ball at the Patriots 40. Luckily, for the Patriots the Broncos only get a field goal out of this. After this, the Broncos get another touchdown! At the half it is 24-0!!!

In the third the Patriots finally get a touchdown. Now it's the Broncos turn to fumble it. Peyton hands it to one of the Broncos backs and the ball pops out and the Patriots recover after a fight for the ball. The Patriots end up scoring again. This makes the score 24-14 with the Broncos still in the lead.

Then Peyton fumbles the ball and recovers it making it a ten yard sack. Next the Patriots throw a 43 yard long bomb, this leads to a Patriot touchdown. Next Broncos possession Manning ends up throwing a interception due to a bad dissection. The Patriots end up getting yet another touchdown due to the interception. The Broncos make a incomplete pass on what should have been an interception. Another "should have been" play occurs when Brady throws the ball in the endzone for what should have been a touchdown. Another interception occurs, but there is a flag on the play! Apparently the interceptor held the receiver. The Broncos get another touchdown which makes the score 31-31!

Now the game is in overtime!!! The Patriots punt the ball and the punt receiver calls the ice/fire/poison call and one of the Broncos touches it. The Patriots recover the ball. The Patriots kick the ball and get a field goal to win a game! This makes the game one of the best comebacks ever!!!

Kid Reporter: Patriots vs Broncos

This weekend a big game is coming up, the New England Patriots will play the Denver Broncos. This will be a big showdown, but if Peyton and Tom were going head to head, Manning is better. When they tried to recover the onside kick, they don't and end up giving the ball to the Jags at the fifty! Another thing that happened was that their backup QB ended up getting stripped for a touchdown!!! Their were so many mistakes on the Titans that caused them to lose the game. This for me was the biggest upset of the week.

Do you think this was the biggest upset of Week 10?

Kid Reporter: San Diego @ Washington

Now if you were to look at records and player stats this season, the Chargers should've, could've, would've won their game in Washington. But if you were watching the game on CBS, you would have seen a hard fought game.   In the second quarter it was a nail-biter for Washington, San Diego was winning 14-7. In the second quarter it was a nail-biter for Washington, San Diego was winning 14-7. Then in the third each team would be going crazy because it was tied, this went on until the final whistle of the 4 quarter. The Chargers were blocking just about everything kicked or thrown near them.

In the beginning the Charger's D was taking over O. They swatted and intercepted the ball in the endzone for a defensive touchdown. In 3rd and 9 RGIII does something amazing that could really have injured him. In his postgame press conference, he said that he put his wings on to fly (LOL). He kept it and ran/flipped for a first down. Bad luck strikes for the 'Skins, or does it? The Chargers score a touchdown, but the ball doesn't go over the pylon the foot moves it down. So then, the touchdown was reversed. The games stays tied and then in the end in overtime the Redskins put up 6 and win it: 30-24.

One of the players this year hasn't played that well and he is on my favorite team the Redskins. RGIII has not played well this season and that has impacted the Redskins greatly. Another thing that has been underestimated is the NFC East division.

I think that Pro Bowl 2.0 isn't as great as an idea as playing a conferenced game. Conferences are better because they brought rivals together to cheer for one team. This time, two people who could easily be argued as the best or the worst analysts are the leaders of the two teams. So what do you think of the over all Pro Bowl and what would rate on a scale of 1 to 10?

Kid Reporter: Late, Late, Late Night Football

Have you heard of the new meaning of late night football? Apparently, now it means that in the east coast football should be played at 11:35 p.m.! This was during the Oakland Raiders vs. San Diego Chargers. This was because the Oakland A's are in the playoffs. Have you heard of the new meaning of late night football? Apparently, now it means that in the east coast football should be played at 11:35 p.m.! This was during the Oakland Raiders vs. San Diego Chargers. This was because the Oakland A's are in the playoffs. And in this day and age we are still using fields for both football and baseball - both teams use the 64,200 seat O.co Coliseum. In order for them get it all back together by the time the baseball game ends and the football game starts, it took them a day and half an hour to transform the field.

The game was a good one, but Darth Vader's team beat sunny San Diego. This game was one with a lot of turnovers. If you go to the Charger's or Raider's page you can see the highlights. But, the overall point is that games should be played earlier. What do you think of this?

The Eagles may have had a chance in the third quarter scoring their 37- yard touchdown. You were probably thinking that they had a chance to turn it around. But there is something YELLOW on the field. The Eagles had an illegal formation.

In the fourth quarter the Chargers make it to the 30 yard line on a kickoff return, but the ball is loose. An Eagle recovers it, but loses it all over again. The Chargers recover it and stumble to the 65-yard line. And a pair of Chargers, QB Phillip Rivers and TE Eddie Royal were at it all game, picking up yards and getting first downs. Then Royal scored a touchdown and sets a record, the second player to ever score 5 touchdowns in the first two weeks. The Eagles almost score a touchdown, but they didn't and the QB and WR are hurt on the SAME play!

It's tied 30-30 with 30 seconds left in the game! And the Chargers kicker, Nick Novak, scores the game winning points! And the games ends with a stunning upset! 30-33, Chargers.

Kid Reporter: Introducing Sarah Thomas

Poll. Do you think females should be able to officiate games?

Have you heard? There may be a different ref next year and officiating a game this year. Her name is Sarah Thomas.

Yes you read correctly HER. The forty-year-old female is the mother of three children.   6 years ago she was the first woman to ever officiate a major college football game. In 2009, she was one of the five woman officials in major college football and the only one to be at the Football Bowl Subdivision level.  She made history by becoming the first woman to ever officiate a bowl game at the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. One football player even admitted to noticing her before the game, but during the game she was just another regular ref.

This year Thomas is one of the 21 finalists to become a permanent official in the NFL. Thomas has worked at Saints scrimmages and spent three days at Colts Training minicamp. If she does well in the preseason she may as well get a permanent position as early 2014. If she impresses people she may end up as the first female NFL official ever.

The back side of the helmet is covered in a beautiful shade of dark gold. The front side of the helmet is a mean-looking black to intimidate their opponents. They feature a unique paint scheme (also designed by Nike) that fades from matte black in the front to gold in the back -- a two-tone look that's uncommon in the NFL.

This is the best new uniform/helmet of 2013.
