This season the playoff race has been exciting to say the least. From the AFC where there are many teams fighting for only 2 spots, to the NFC where the 5-7 Falcons are the number 4 seed! So as the 2014 season is nearing an end here are my predictions for the playoffs. The AFC wildcard goes to the Chargers and Ravens These two teams are both playing great football and as you can see from week 13 they are very similar teams. First off the Ravens will get in because they have beat good teams (Dolphins, Steelers, ect.), have a proven offense and defense, and are better than the Steelers and Browns. The reason that they are better than the Steelers is because the Steelers choke against bad teams like the Buccaneers and Jets. They are better than Cleveland because the Browns are struggling and are caught in a bunch of 7-6 teams like the Bills and Dolphins. As for the Chargers they are just playing like they did earlier in the season. They are winning and now have a thriving Philip Rivers and a very good Ryan Mathews. For those reasons they will propel themselves over teams like the Dolphins, Steelers, and the Texans and into the 5th and 6th seed. The NFC wildcard goes to the Cardinals and Lions The Cardinals are a surprise but the way Drew Stanton has played, besides the Chief game, and the injuries I could see Seattle taking the Cardinals spot. For the Lions the Packers are the better and hotter team right now and will take the NFC North but with Calvin Johnson looking amazing and Reggie Bush back they can get to the playoffs. The Cowboys could also be in one of those spots but they don't look as good as they did and just knowing the Cowboys they will find a way not to get in the playoffs. My entire playoff picture AFC #1Patriots #2Broncos #3Bengals #4Colts #5Chargers #6Ravens NFC #1Packers #2Seahawks #3Eagles #4Falcons #5Cardinals #6Lions

What do you think? Should Reggie switch to rugby or stay in the NFL?

Poll: Can the Lions win Super Bowl WLIX

With training camp starting this week, it's the perfect time to start thinking about the one question on the minds of all football fans: who in the name of Lombardi is going to win this year's Super Bowl?

Why not the Detroit Lions? Well, WHY NOT???

Detroit Lions - 2013 Record: 7-9

With a star-studded offense of Calvin Johnson, Matt Stafford, and Reggie Bush, and the imposing defensive duo of Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley, the Detroit Lions have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL. This is what made their 7-9 record last year so hard to accept.

The Lions made some key changes in the offseason, hiring veteran head coach Jim Caldwell, signing WR Golden Tate away from Seattle to help take some of the burden off Calvin Johnson, and drafting a Jimmy Graham-clone in the form of TE Eric Ebron.

Every year a team that missed the playoffs the previous season becomes the hot playoff team in the current year. We say this year that team will be the Detroit Lions.

Post a comment and let us know why we're horribly wrong; and check back for more Super Bowl contenders as training camps begin.

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush and his wife Lilit have spent their summer vacation exploring Australia.

They must like great views because in this NFL Fan Pass clip, they climb to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Think you could make that climb???

The NFL is months away, but there are already players that have started out on good notes. Here are 7 players that could have breakout seasons in 2014.

Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers, Wide Receiver- James Jones left in free agency, opening up a chance at a bigger role for Randall Cobb. Cobb had an injury-plagued year in 2013 but, if he stays healthy, could have a Pro Bowl season and be a top-10 receiver. Aaron Rodgers also comes back from an injury, which also helps. Jordy Nelson and Cobb could challenge Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall as the best duo in the NFC North or even the NFL.
Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions, Quarterback- Stafford has already put up great numbers, but the addition of new coach Jim Caldwell should inflate those numbers even more. Caldwell has traditionally led pass happy offenses and will bring his philosophy from Indianapolis and Baltimore. Stafford has the best skill players of any team, including Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate, Reggie Bush, Mikel Leshoure, Joique Bell, Eric Ebron, and Brandon Pettigrew.
Shane Vereen, New England Patriots, Running Back- Bill Belicheck has chosen a different running back every year as a feature back. The list includes BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Stevan Ridley, and LeGarrette Blount. Shane Vereen could be next. Vereen has been injured for the past few years but could get a boost in carries this year. Belicheck has made this team one of the best rushing teams in the NFL and will give either Vereen or Brandon Bolden a bigger role.
Kendall Wright, Tennessee Titans, Wide Receiver- Like Stafford, Kendall Wright will benefit from a new system. Ken Whisenhunt, who led the Chargers last year, is very pass-friendly and developed Keenan Allen last year. Wright is the most talented receiver in this corps and should take targets away from Nate Washington and Justin Hunter. If quarterback Jake Locker stays healthy, Wright could have a 1,000 yard year.
Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears, Quarterback- After the emergence of receiver Alshon Jeffery and consistency of Brandon Marshall, the Bears now have the best receiver duo in the league. Jay Cutler was injured last year and Josh McCown had a career year filling in. In what could be his first year with Marc Trestman, Cutler could be a Pro Bowl quarterback.
Casey Hayward, Green Bay Packers, Cornerback- After a solid rookie campaign, Casey Hayward was a favorite to be a Pro Bowler last year. Instead, Hayward was knocked out with injury for the season. The pass rush was bolstered with the addition of Julius Peppers and the resigning of BJ Raji, so the pressure could give Hayward a greater chance of making big plays. Expect a 5 interception year with a Pro Bowl for the 3rd year corner.
DeAndre Hopkins, Houston Texans, Wide Receiver- Yes, the quarterback situation in Houston is not ideal, but the addition of new head coach Bill O'Brien will make for a more pass happy offense. Andre Johnson is on the decline, so 2nd year wideout DeAndre Hopkins should have a greater role in the new system. Hopkins can also be a difference-maker for the special teams unit as a returner.
