Kid Reporter Jason Tells All About His Pregame Ritual

Kid Reporter Jason tells all about his pregame ritual.

As we move through Week 4 of the NFL season, fans are really getting into their pregame rituals for their favorite teams; especially favorite pregame meals. As a Saints fan, living in the south, I personally love either a chicken and sausage gumbo or red beans with sausage. When we settle down to watch our team battle their rivals, we love eating these homemade delicacies made by my mom. These are some of my favorite things to eat before watching my Saints battle their opponents.

What about you- do you have a typical pregame ritual?

Kid Reporter: Jason - Saints Super Bowl Needs

At the beginning of every NFL season, everybody has their own opinions about who will win the Super Bowl, and who will have the worst record, and things like that.

It just depends on what their needs are, and how they fill those needs. My team is the New Orleans Saints. They need a DEFENSE!! The Saints are basically known for their roller-coaster ride throughout the years on the the defensive side of the ball.

Last season, was a very tough one for the team. They did an excellent job rebuilding during the offseason, especially in the draft. This will give my team the advantage it needs. What about yours?

Kid Reporters: Rivals and Their Players

The Atlanta Falcons and most of their players are great rivals to watch in action when they play a divisional match-up with the New Orleans Saints. With two excellent quarterbacks in "Matty Ice" Ryan and Drew Brees, these two players make this series a perfect game to watch for fans of the offensive, high-scoring style of game. Julio Jones and Roddy White make great targets for Ryan who is a very talented player. Marques Colston is Drew Brees' favorite go-to guy in the passing game, especially in the 2-minute drill. This has always been a great rivalry, it is a great rivalry, and it will always be a great rivalry.

Kid Reporter: Struggling Teams

The New Orleans Saints have a dreadful 4-6 record this year, losing four of the six by a field goal or less. The mighty offense of the New Orleans Saints are doing what was expected of them this year, plus more. The defense however, is on completely different planet... Giving up an average of nearly 23 points per game, Rob Ryan's (The Hair) defense has got to turn it around the last half of the season if they expect to be playing in the postseason. The Saints have a great all-around team, even with special teams. Because of the Saints' home field swagger, the Saints are still tied for first place in a dismal NFC South division that is struggling right now. The Saints defense has got to stop teams on 3rd down. That is the biggest down for offenses that face the New Orleans defense. And so, Clearly, the New Orleans Saints must turn it up on defense if they want a shot at Arizona.

Kid Reporter: Fantasy Impact Players

In fantasy football this year, my team is currently 3-5. Brandin Cooks has been the biggest key to my success this season as he has piled up plenty of points. Brandin has been a very explosive player not just by receiving passes from Drew Brees, but also by rushing the ball a few times as well. Drew Brees is my fantasy QB and he has been a big factor as well. Clearly, these two players should probably be a must have for any fantasy owners.

Kid Reporter: NFL Week 8 Stars

The Sunday Night Football game in the Big Easy town of New Orleans, Louisiana will pit not just two of the League's elite teams, but two of the elite quarterbacks as well. The Green Bay Packers, led by Aaron Rodgers will travel down south to take on the New Orleans Saints and their star quarterback Drew Brees. The Saints will be looking to get back on to the right page this week against the mighty cheese heads as they have lost 4 out of the 6 total games they've played this season. The veteran Saints Wide Receiver, Marques Colston has been in a big slump this season as he has not been a big factor this season. Normally, you would think that this would be a problem for the team, but that was before a young rookie named, Brandin Cooks, stepped up to the plate. Brandin has been electric this season taking and filling up the empty space that was clear when Darren Sproles was traded this offseason and also making up for the lack of catches by Colston this season. The defense of the New Orleans Saints team has struggled this year in winnable games against Atlanta, Cleveland, and Detroit. As Sunday Night Football approaches steadily, the key this week is to contain offensive weapons on the Packers' roster including Arron Rodgers, Eddie Lacy, and Jordy Nelson. Drew Brees will have his fair share of difficulties as well as he faces Clay Matthews on the defensive side of the ball. This will definitely be the game of the week as two of the elite NFL teams square off in prime time football. Clearly, a lot of hype will surround this Week 8 match-up in the National Football League.

Kid Reporter: My Dream Coach

The coach currently in the league that I would want to coach my team, is Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints. Sean Payton entered the head coaching job in 2006 (year Drew Brees signed with the Saints). Payton is not just a great head coach winning percentage wise, but also as a great motivator. Payton is able to communicate easily with the team, or simply with any team. Sean Payton may not be the best HC in the NFL, but he is definitely one of the best. Payton will most likely stay with the New Orleans Saints for a very long time, and he will hopefully continue his great success. Clearly, this is why I'd choose to have Sean Payton coach my football team.

Kid Reporter: Defense in 2014

Defense has been a big topic so far this year in the NFL, but not all of them have been great. The Saints defense is definitely standing out so far, but not in a good way. In the first three games of the NFL season, the New Orleans defense gave up a total of 72 points in which their opponent only scored 9 points in one game. In the season opener, the Saints gave up 37 points to rival, Atlanta Falcons. The Saints even lost to the Dallas Cowboys being held to under 20 points. Going through the rest of the season, the Saints will have their work cut out for them with a tough schdule going by too fast. Clearly, the Saints defense will have to turn things around if they expect to be in the playoffs this season.

Kid Reporter: Rivalry Games

There are 32 teams in the NFL, so technically there are 16 rivalries, but, that is not the case in my opinion. With the young up and coming teams in the League such as the Cardinals, Rams, and Lions, the NFL has all kinds of rivalries brewing! The Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings is arguably one of the best rivalries in the NFL, but with the Detroit Lions building a soon to be dynasty, the Vikings, Packers, and now the Lions are all rivals against each other. The same goes for the ENTIRE NFC West division. The 49ers of San Francisco and the Seattle Seahawks are the top dogs still in the division, but the Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams could push these teams to the limit. I am looking forward to the Saints vs Falcons, Week 1, Season Opener. This is still my favorite rivalry history and matchup even with the new ones that are quickly developing. Clearly, these are my games to look forward to in the National Football League.

Kid Reporter: Rookies to Keep an Eye On

One of the rookies to watch in training camp this year is the New Orleans Saints WR, Brandin Cooks. With the trade of Darren Sproles to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, the New Orleans Saints lost a major factor in both their offensive run game and their special teams squad. Rookie WR, Brandin Cooks will bring a lot of hype to the Saints roster this season. He will add not just the speed that the veteran squad was lacking, but also agility and versatility that the Saints lost this offseason. Sean Payton (Head Coach of the New Orleans Saints) said that he expects Cooks to be the next Darren Sproles on the Saints roster this upcoming season. The rookie that is not on my home team that I want to watch is QB Blake Bortles of the Jacksonville Jaguars. I'd like to see how he defines the Jaguars pass game. Clearly, these will be the two rookies I will keep an eye on during the 2014-2015 NFL Season.

Johnny Cleveland?

Poll. What was the biggest surprise in this year's draft?

The biggest surprise of the 2014 NFL Draft was Johnny Manziel, AKA, Johnny Football sliding down the draft stocks to #22 Overall. Many NFL analysts, thought that the talented QB out of Texas A&M was going to definitely be a Top 10 Prospect. He waited almost 2 hours to hear his name be called by Commissioner, Rodger Goodell. Johnny Manziel will be a Cleveland Brown this upcoming season and many fans have already started buying Maziel merchandise. This is what I think the "biggest" surprise was in this year's draft, but also surprising, Michael Sam became the first openly gay football player in the history of the National Football League.

Jadeveon Clowney Draft Stock

Poll. Who will be the first pick in the 2014 NFL Draft?

With the first pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select Jadeveon Clowney, from the University of South Carolina. I think this will be where the star DE, Jadeveon Clowney will land in the draft. Even though the Texans are in desperate need of a QB, I see this pick happening. Clowney would be a big help or compliment I should say, of DE, J.J. Watt. I believe the Texans will wait until the 2nd Round to get a QB and I think they will draft Blake Bortles. My prediction stats for Jadeveon Clowney will be 55 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

Kid Reporter: Free Angency

I think the New Orleans Saints will have a little trouble next season with of lot of tough young, (and old) talents having to be cut, but they still have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. I predict they finish the season 11-5. The Carolina Panthers have lost a bunch of good offensive and defensive players. They will finish the season 9-7.

Kid Reporter: New Uniform New Success

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have designed new uniforms for the 2014 NFL season. The uniforms look very nice and I believe with the rebuilding method in process, the Bucs' new uniforms will make a jump in the sales category. I do not think the Bucs' will have a winning record this year considering the trouble at the QB position, and not to mention the release of pro-bowl CB, Derelle Revis. This is what I think of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' new uniforms and roster.

Kid Reporter: NFL Scouting Combine

With the NFL Scouting Combine approaching, there are many teams that could use help on both sides of the ball. The Saints are who I'll be watching during this time period. With the veterans that they have recently released, such as Will Smith, they have to look for young, talented defenders primarily. I have not really paid attention to the prospects this draft, but I think it will be a good draft class. This is my view on the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine.

Kid Reporter: Super Bowl Bound

This year in the NFL, as we say goodbye to a lot of talented teams such as the Saints and Colts, we look into the Conference Round of the playoffs. Still remaining in the bracket are the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks (NFC). On the other side of things, we have the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots (AFC). All 4 teams remaining in the playoffs are led by star quarterbacks. The Seattle Seahawks had to work for their win against the New Orleans Saints in the Divisional Round. It ended up being just a one possession game. In the AFC, the Broncos and Chargers game was much of the same. A one possession turnout. There are going to be emotions everywhere in the NFL this week, with of course the most talked about topic, the Brady vs Manning rivalry. I believe that the Broncos will represent the AFC, and the Seahawks to represent the NFC. Then, I predict the Broncos are crowned Super Bowl 48 Champions. Clearly, this is going to be an interesting week in the NFL.

Kid Reporter: Comeback Player of the Year

With the Super Bowl right around the corner, there are many candidates for NFL honors such as, MVP, Comeback Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, etc. My vote for Comeback Player of the Year is surprisingly, New Orleans Saints RB, Mark Ingram. After getting hardly no playing time at all last season and missing nearly 6 weeks this season with a toe injury, he did excellent this season on the ground. He really fights for extra yards, but he needs to learn to better hang onto the ball. He exploded 145 yards off of 14 carries averaging out to 10.4 yards per carry. He ran the ball for 1 touchdown and caught the ball for 15 yards on 2 grabs. This is why I think Mark Ingram should win this award. Clearly, he should get strong consideration for this honor.

Kid Reporter: Fantasy Football Playoffs

As the season goes on into the playoffs, so does fantasy football. With stronger players on weaker teams (Calvin Johnson- DET), there is not a whole lot of spark or surprises to look forward to. Fantasy Football teams or owners will have to rely on bench players and slightly less talented players. So, these are some things you might want to look into as we go into the playoffs.

Kid Reporter: NFC Division Match-Up

This Sunday, the New Orleans Saints will be hosting the streaking Carolina Panthers in Mercedes Benz Super Dome. In this match-up between the Saints and Panthers, there will be a lot at stake here. The most important thing on the line is the 2nd place standing in the NFC conference. The most important thing on the line is the 2nd place standing in the NFC conference. The 1st place seed is the Seattle Seahawks who knocked off the New Orleans Saints last Monday 34-7.

The next thing that is on the line is that if the Saints lose they will only have one more shot to reclaim the 2nd seed when they go to Carolina in 3 weeks to battle again. This will decide who wins the division in the NFC South. If the Seahawks lose one of their remaining games it will be interesting in the NFC as the Playoffs shape into form. I take the Saints in this one.

The biggest reason being they will be back in New Orleans and that they will be hungry to get a win after that embarrassing loss to Seattle. Carolina's key to success will be if they can get their run game going. The Saints are ranked 16th in rush defense and are giving up nearly 200 yards on the ground per game. The Saints' key to victory will be to find their big man Jimmy Graham. Jimmy has 11 or 12 receiving touchdowns this season which leads the league in all receivers. Clearly, this will be a great match to look forward to.

Kid Reporter: Battle of the Veteran Quarterbacks

Last week in the NFL the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos battled each other and, even though the teams were playing each other, it was really a battle of the quarterbacks.   Peyton Manning (Denver) led his team to a 24-0 lead over the Patriots by halftime. Many people thought New England had no chance of coming back, but, boy, were they ever wrong. Tom Brady, (New England), led his team back to tie the game at 31 at the end of regulation. Tom Brady, (New England), led his team back to tie the game at 31 at the end of regulation. Broncos fans everywhere couldn't believe it. In overtime, the Patriots scored a game-winning field goal to win in outstanding fashion. Even though his team lost, it wasn't really Peyton Manning's fault for losing the game. He plays on offense, his defense gave up a sure win. This is why I think Peyton Manning had a better game and why it was a battle of veteran quarterbacks.

Kid Reporter: Pre-Post Season

It's Week 11 and it is time to start looking forward to the post season. In the NFC, I think that the division winners will be the New Orleans Saints taking home the NFC South, the Seattle Seahawks have already clinched it in my books to take the NFC West, the Dallas Cowboys will find a path with a little light on it to beat out the Eagles for the NFC East title, and I have the Detroit Lions making a big run with Calvin Johnson in these last couple of weeks to take the NFC North.

Now, in the other conference, I have the Patriots beating out the Jets for the AFC East, the Cincinnati Bengals clinching the AFC North, the Broncos along with Peyton Manning just squeaking by the Chiefs for the AFC West, and the Colts making a big run for the AFC South Title.

The Wild Cards in the NFC would probably have to be the Carolina Panthers and the Green Bay Packers for me. While the AFC Wild Cards would have to be the New York Jets and the very surprising Cleveland Browns.

My Super Bowl favorites right now are the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC and the New Orleans Saints with their newly revamped and rebuilt defense. This is how my playoff picture looks like as of now.

Kid Reporter: Week of the Overtime Match-ups

Last week in the NFL, there were an unbelievable 3 overtime games played. Super Bowl favorite, Seattle Seahawks played against the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This game was played into overtime tied at 24. Surprisingly, the Buccaneers scored 21 of their 24 points in the 2nd quarter of play. This, in my opinion, was the most exciting game in Week 9 of the NFL, even though the Miami vs. Cincinnati safety winning overtime game was a close second with the Dolphins eventually coming out on top 22-2

Kid Reporter: Pro Bowl Format

This year in the NFL there are going to be some changes to the Pro Bowl. In my opinion, they should have kept the format to NFC vs AFC. That way it settled the long running mystery of which conference is better. It also gave the best of the best from BOTH conferences what they bring to the NFL. On the other side, it will be cool to have captains like Deion Sanders and Jerry Rice to help the teams. The Colts second year QB will be looking to best his opponent. Andrew Luck already beat the 49ers. I believe the city of Indianapolis will embrace Peyton Manning for his season so far, but I also believe the home squad will be booed a little for just allowing Peyton to walk like that. Clearly, this will be a match-up to watch for in Week 7, will the student school the teacher?

Broncos are Bucking

Poll. Do you think the Colts can beat the Broncos in Week 7?

So far this season, the Broncos are 4-0 with their QB, Peyton Manning. Looking forward on their upcoming schedule, I do think there is one team that could ruin their chances of a perfect season. That team is the 3-1 Indianapolis Colts with their second year QB Andrew Luck.

After beating the San Francisco 49ers, it looks like the Colts are finally starting to look like a Playoff team. It would be a good match up to look forward to. Those are the problems the Denver Broncos' upcoming opponent may bring to the field.
