Just five weeks ago the Seattle Seahawks pasted the New Orleans Saints 34-7. Why will this rematch, in the NFC Divisional Playoffs, be any different?
First, you have to believe that QB Drew Brees, TE Jimmy Graham, and the rest of the Saints will play better this time. These guys are some of the best and they got embarrassed on Monday Night Football. They will be motivated by that and the knowledge that they have to win or go home.
Second, the Saints running game is clicking. They ran for 186 yards in their Wildcard win over the Philadelphia Eagles, with RB Mark Ingram rushing for 97 yards and a TD. If the Saints can establish the run against the Seahawks, the air should open up for Brees, Graham, and WR Marques Colston.
That, however, is a big "if." The Seahawks led the league both in overall defense and in passing defense, and are 7th in rushing defense. Led by their awesome CB Richard Sherman, Seattle's defense is wicked good, especially at home where they went 7-1 this season.
And - oh yeah - the Seahawks have an offense too. It all starts with QB Russell Wilson handing off the ball to RB Marshawn Lynch, who was 6th in the NFL in rushing this season. When opponents stack the line to stop the run, Wilson airs-it-out to WRs Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin and TE Zach Miller. Pick your poison.
The Seahawks have looked great all year and are at home.
The Saints have superstars and experience on their side.
This should be one heck of a game...be sure to watch on Saturday, at 4:35 ET, on Fox!
