Led by star QB Cam Newton, the Carolina Panthers thumped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football, 31-13.

Newton was in command all game, completing 23 of 32 passes for 221 yards, one TD and no interceptions.  He also rushed for 55 yards and one TD, just because he's Cam and he can.

The Panthers have now won three in a row and four out of their last five, announcing to the rest of the NFL that they are playoff contenders.  They also improved their overall record to 4-3, the first time since 2008 that they are above .500.

For Tampa Bay, rookie QB Mike Glennon did his best, throwing for 275 yards, one TD and no interceptions.
