Team Report Cards: Giants Have a Lot of Spots to Fill

New York Giants

2012 Record: 9-7

Grade: B

The Good:

Ranked 8-4 within their conference

  • - QB Eli Manning and WRs Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz form one of the most potent trios in the NFL
  • - Added a pair of DTs: Cullen Jenkins and Mike Patterson

The Bad:

    • - The defense sack total dropped from 48 in 2011 to just 33 last year
  • - They missed the playoffs due to a season-ending 2-3 run
  • - Released a lot of quality players: RB Ahmad Bradshaw and DEs Osi Umenyiora and Chris Canty and still haven't resigned WR Victor Cruz.

The Future:

  • - Draft Position #19: LB Alec Ogletree or DE Ezekiel Ansah
  • - Free Agent Targets: LB Daryl Smith, OT Andre Smith and RB Felix Jones
  • - Trade: This might sound crazy, but since they are lacking in the secondary and have depth at WR, they should trade WR Hakeem Nicks to the Jets for DB Darrelle Revis.

With all player changes, what is the Giants greatest need?
