The San Diego Chargers took advantage of four Cincinnati turnovers to defeat the Bengals 27-10 and advance to the next round of the NFL Playoffs. Even though Philip Rivers’ numbers weren’t huge (12-of-16 for 128 yards) he was a steady hand who committed no turn-overs and kept the pressure on the Bengals.
The Chargers trailed 10-7 at halftime, when their defense turned up the heat in the second half and the Bengals started turning over the ball. Rivers made them pay for their mistakes. Along the way he tossed a TD pass to Ladarius Green and back-up RB Ronnie Brown contributed 77 yards and a TD on the ground.
For the Bengals it was yet another disappointing playoff performance by QB Andy Dalton (three turnovers) which led to their 24th consecutive year without a playoff victory.
San Diego is now charging to Denver to meet the Broncos in the Divisional round.
