Brady. Manning. Kaepernick. Wilson.
Could this foursome be the best set of starting QBs in Conference Championship history? Before you dismiss the idea, consider that Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are first ballot Hall of Famers; and early in their careers Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson are among the top players in the league.
Here's the skinny:
Tom Brady – New England Patriots
Most career playoff wins of any QB ever (18). Three Super Bowl victories. Tom Brady is arguable the greatest playoff quarterback ever, and he seems to always play well against Peyton Manning. Brady is 10-4 lifetime against Manning and in their last three match-ups Brady’s thrown six TDs. Tom Brady is the consummate winner. Can he beat a tough Denver defense on the road?
Peyton Manning – Denver Broncos
Four time NFL MVP. One Super Bowl victory. And the greatest statistical season a QB has ever had: 5,477 yards passing and 55 TDs this season. He's playing at home and facing his longtime nemesis Tom Brady. Will Peyton Manning rise to the challenge?
Colin Kaepernick – San Francisco 49ers
Kap became the 49ers starting QB mid-way through last season and came 5 yards away from winning the Super Bowl. He's 4-1 in the playoffs with three of those wins on the road. He's equally devastating with his arms as he is with his legs. Can Colin Kaepernick's road playoff mojo continue against a tough Seahawks defense, in Seattle?
Russell Wilson – Seattle Seahawks
"DangeRuss" Wilson is 16-1 at home for his young career. His 24 wins in his first two years as a starting QB is a NFL record. Like another QB we know, Wilson is equally devastating with his arms as he is with his legs. He's the only one of our star QBs who has not made it to the Super Bowl...will this be his year?
