The NFL Scouting Combine wrapped up yesterday after a great effort by all the prospective players. Some players helped out their NFL chances and turned in impressive numbers. Here are some of the top performances in the events.
40-yard Dash:
Great- RB Darren McFadden turned in a blazing fast time of 4.33 seconds
Incredible- WR Justin King and CB Tyvon Branch beat that by running a time of 4.31.
Stupendous- The fastest time, however, was turned in by RB Chris Johnson who ran the dash in 4.24 seconds! That works out to an average speed of 19.3 miles per hour! That is faster than a squirrel, which runs at an average speed of 12 miles per hour!
Bench Press:
Awesome- OL Jeremy Zuttah , DL Trevor Laws and DL Ahtyba Rubin did 35 reps of a 225-pound barbell.
Astounding- DL Vernon Gholston and OL Jake Long each did 37 reps, which was the best of the combine. That’s like lifting a baby elephant 37 times!
Vertical Jump:
Remarkable- CB Aqib Talib, safety David Roach and TE Dustin Keller each recorded a jump of 38 inches
Amazing- CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and WR Keenan Burton each jumped 38.5 inches.
Extraordinary- The top jump was put up by RB Carl Stewart with a 39 inch vertical leap. That’s over 3 feet! That’s like jumping over your 3 year old brother or sister!
Keep an eye out for these names on April 26-27 when the NFL Draft gets under way in New York City.
