With Week 8's final game being played as I type, I'd like to give a quick review of how I feel about the season so far, and how I think the rest of the year will pan out.

Surprises: If you said that the Saints would be 2-5 at this point in the season, you'd probably be lying. Sure, there was expected to be struggles with missing Sean Payton among other coaches, but there have been a lot of crushing losses. But hang in there, Saints fans, I don't think your season is over yet. Drew Brees has been performing well, and they will get it together soon.

Speaking of the NFC South, I'm also surprised that the Falcons are the only undefeated team left in the NFL. Matt Ryan has definitely stepped up, and the duo of Julio Jones and Roddy White has been a nightmare for secondaries everywhere. On the AFC side, there have been some surprising successes in the Dolphins and Colts. The Vikings haven't done too bad for themselves either, with a 5-3 record.

As far as players go, I'd say the biggest surprise would be in Robert Griffin III. Sure, we saw his running and throwing skills at Baylor, but we didn't expect him to be this spectacular. Another rookie on the Redskins, Alfred Morris, has also put up great numbers. Other pleasant surprises include Peyton Manning and Adrian Peterson. Both coming off big injuries, they were expected to never be the same players they used to be. They definitely proved us wrong. Adrian Peterson leads the league in rushing yards, and Manning has led his Broncos to the top of the AFC West.

Predictions: As I said before, I do think that the Saints will make a turnaround. I also think that the 3-4 Lions will start winning, since Stafford has started to improve from the start of the season. It's hard to predict playoff seeds at this point when most of the teams are hovering around the .500 mark, but I do think the Texans and Pats will continue to dominate the AFC. The Ravens will start to fade out a tad with their defense completely wrecked with injuries, but they could still make a run. As far as the NFC goes, your guess is as good as mine. So many new teams are performing well and some of the best are struggling. If I had to guess, I'd say the Packers will come out top in the NFC, playing the Texans in the Super Bowl, but because of their experience, the Packers would come out champions.

The first half of the season has been a blast to watch and I can't wait to see the rest! How do you guys feel about the first half of the season, and how do you predict it will end?
