There are only 6 more weeks in the regular season, and the playoff picture is changing every week. Here is a look at my predictions both for the playoffs and the awards.
Projected 1 seed: Denver Broncos- If Peyton Manning stays healthy and John Fox returns, the Broncos will get the top seed.
Projected 2 seed: Indianapolis Colts- The Colts should stay ahead of New England in the final weeks and get a bye week in the playoffs.
Projected 3 seed: New England Patriots- Bill Belicheck's defense lost its two best players for the season, but the New England offense will keep the Pats atop the AFC East.
Projected 4 seed: Cincinnati Bengals- - The Bengals have been inconsistent, but will win the AFC North.
Projected 5 seed: Kansas City Chiefs- Kansas City plays the high scoring Broncos twice, and will likely lose both.
Predicted 6 seed: San Diego Chargers- The Chargers have the best offense of any team in contention for the 6th seed.
Teams Outside the Playoffs
Cleveland Browns- The Browns don't have a solid quarterback to lead them to enough victories to contend.
Baltimore Ravens- Baltimore has underperformed and, if their offensive line continues its terrible play, will miss the playoffs.
New York Jets- The Jets currently have the 6th best record in the AFC, but will need more offensive production to get to the playoffs.
Miami Dolphins- Controversy is tearing both the Dolphins' team and playoff hopes apart.
Tennessee Titans- Jake Locker is out for the year, and the offense hasn't been doing well this year.
Projected AFC Playoffs
Wild Card Round
Patriots over Chargers
Chiefs over Bengals
Colts over Patriots
Broncos over Chiefs
Broncos over Colts
Projected 1 seed Seattle Seahawks- The Seahawks should finish the regular season as the best NFC team.
Projected 2 seed New Orleans Saints- New Orleans has made a complete turnaround and is in Super Bowl contention.
Projected 3 seed Detroit Lions- Detroit is the only NFC North team to not have multiple quarterbacks start. They should win their division thanks to Matt Stafford.
Projected 4 seed Dallas Cowboys: For the 3rd straight year, the Cowboys will play in a game that will decided the winner of the NFC East against the Eagles. I predict Dallas will win that game.
Projected 5 seed San Francisco 49ers: The 49ers will get Michael Crabtree back soon, and will be back to being contenders.
Projected 6 seed Carolina Panthers: The Panthers have one of the best defenses in the NFL, and will make the playoffs for the first time in Ron Rivera's head coaching career.
Teams Outside the Playoffs
Chicago Bears: Chicago is losing key players to injury, and will likely miss the playoffs again.
Green Bay Packers: Without Aaron Rodgers, the Packers will drop out of the playoff picture.
Arizona Cardinals: The Cardinals will play a lot more tough games than other teams in playoff contention. I don't think that they will make the playoffs.
Philadelphia Eagles: If Nick Foles keeps up his terrific play, the Eagles will win the NFC East.
