As school winds down and summer nears the heat and humidity rise. It’s time to focus on hydration. If sports camps or summer workouts are on the schedule, a good hydration plan starts today. A well hydrated body is one of the factors to performing well this summer.
Hydration improves concentration, focus, and endurance in athletes. Drinking fluids and foods with extra water will assist in keeping muscles and bodies hydrated. Here are tips to stay hydrated all summer long…
1. Wear white or light colored clothing for work outs and practices.
2. Practice or workout in the early part of the day before the heat and humidity rise.
3. Keep a glass of water at your bedside.
4. Drink a glass of water when you wake up and before you go to bed.
5. Consume these foods to assist with hydration:
- - Oranges
- - Tomatoes
- - Watermelon
- - Mandarin Oranges
- - Mango
- - Apple
- - Canned Peaches
- - Frozen Grapes
- - Canned Pears
- - Pineapple Chunks in Water
- - Jello
- - Lemon Ice
