Are you ready for some EXERCISE? With some football tossed in? Well, two schools have learned that exercise pays off. They have been selected to have a special NFL Youth Clinic come to their school due to the schools' successful efforts to get their students, parents and community involved in learning about the importance of healthy nutrition and physical activity. The two schools -- Great Meadows Middle School of Great Meadows, NJ and Turner Elementary School of Tampa Bay, FL -- won a nationwide contest among schools that sponsored Game On! The Ultimate Wellness Challenge™ events.

Jerry Horowitz in action! The Great Meadows Middle School already had the NFL clinic and it was a total blast! High school football coaches ran an NFL youth football clinic; a fun, interactive event that had students up and exercising and also taught them some football fundamentals.

The clinic also included some relays and prizes, plus everyone got a chance to do their version of a touchdown dance. The NFL's coordinator for Junior Player Development, Jerry Horowitz, spoke to the kids and parents about healthy eating habits and provided useful tips, such as: "Don't spend all summer on the couch if you want to be a future weekend warrior. Get up and play for 60 minute's a day! Drink lots of water and eat your fruits and veggies because your football debut might be right around the corner!" The Great Meadows kids loved the clinic and were psyched to take home pigskin and nutrition tips and spend time with coaches and NFL reps.

The kids of Turner School in Tampa Bay, FL have a great day in store for them when they host the NFL youth football clinic in August 2007! They will learn a basic NFL rule no matter what age or size you are, eating right and getting regular exercise will help you feel and perform better, on and off any playing field.
