Day Four was the last but the best day of camp! First, as we had done all week, we did our warm-up exercises. I loved doing exercises with the other kids. Man, what a workout!
After warm-ups, we headed over to the agility station. My favorite was the cone hop where you had to jump the cones. It was a lot of fun and challenging.
Next, we went to the defense station. I loved it. My favorite part of this station was when you had to hit a dummy then run over the dummy and try to two-hand touch your opponent before they reached the last cone. It was way-cool.
The last part of the camp was Coach Pat summarizing our week and all of the hard work and effort we had put in. He talked to us about having passion and commitment in football and in all we do. He also talked about the eight special awards: Leadership, Attitude, Extra Effort, Consistency, Hustle, Most Improved, Teammate and Future Star. These awards were also named after Lions players. Coach Pat reminded us we all couldn’t win an award and if we don’t win one this year, come back and set a goal to work for one next year.
I was so excited to hear my name called. I was honored with the Detroit Lions Youth Football Camp 2009 Calvin Johnson Attitude Award. It’s so cool. Calvin Johnson, #81, plays Wide Receiver for the Lions. He’s an amazing player!!!! (He scored 12 touchdowns last season!)
Day Four was totally wicked awesome!
