I had a lot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving day, it was my first trip to Ford Field! I was so excited to be going to an NFL game live I was up at 6 a.m.! This trip was going to be even more amazing because I was covering PLAY 60 at the game.
I met kids from the Dick & Sandy Dauch Campus/NFL-YET Boys & Girls Club of America. They earned their trips to the game by being the most active in PLAY 60 at the club.
I asked them how they PLAY 60. Victor plays hoops in the gym. Mackenize does yoga. Jalen plays hoops as a point guard. Angelica and Amber love basketball and like learning more about PLAY 60 by getting tips off the video. The Thanksgiving Lions game recognized these amazing kids by having them be a part of the fan tunnel and on the field for the National Anthem. I was honored to join them.
We all got to go under the stadium. We saw so many NFL players walking by on their way to and from the locker room. I saw Lions Calvin Johnson, Kevin Smith, Brandon Pettigrew, Eric Fowler (who I met at the Lions Youth Football Camp last summer), Jason Hanson and many more. I also saw Packers Aaron Rodgers, James Jones, Charles Woodson, Donald Driver...the whole team. I also got to see the referees and even got a picture with one of them.
As we were getting lined up for the fan tunnel, Roary the Detroit Lions mascot helped get us fired up! It was finally time for us to run out of the tunnel. There were so many people in the stands. I was standing on Ford Field!
I joined my family to watch the game up in the stands. It's so cool to see a game live. Although the Lions didn't pull off a win, it was a wicked awesome time at Ford Field!
