Due to a new NFL policy, we will be saying goodbye to cheerleaders as we know them. Instead, teams will need to provide players from their practice squads, in addition to players not participating in the game. While on offense, the NFL will require the defense to act as cheerleaders and while on defense, the offensive players will take over the rah- rahs. The NFL believes that this will promote good sportsmanship and is excited to see what kind of routines these athletes can come up with.

Players have mixed feelings. One player said, “I don’t like this decision. The pom-poms just don’t really go with my helmet.” However, some players are embracing the opportunity. One player said, “I think that this is a great idea! Our team is already working hard to get our pyramid just right.” The players are getting prepared for their extra duty this season. So, look to the sidelines next game and see your favorite super star dancing in line, shaking those pom-poms and singing cheers. And if that wasn’t enough to get you excited…..
