After winning the Super Bowl XLII Championship in a stunning upset of the Patriots 17-14 on Sunday, the Giants and New York City celebrated with a parade on Tuesday. The team was met with cheers and 50 tons of confetti from thousands of NY Giants fans. MVP quarterback Eli Manning joined DE Michael Strahan in the front of a float. It was the first time a parade had been held for a football team on the stretch of Broadway known as the “Canyon of Heroes.” The Parade ended in front of city hall where players from the Giants like Brandon Jacobs, Antonio Pierce, Michael Stahan and MVP Eli Manning all spoke to the crowd. The mayor of New York City presented members of the team with a key to the city in honor of their incredible win.
The Parade came one day after the Giants homecoming in New Jersey. Five buses, carrying the team, drove through the Giants Stadium gates past a screaming group of about 200 hardy fans that braved the cold, damp weather to welcome their heroes home. After Tuesday’s parade, the Giants returned to Giants Stadium for another celebration of their Super Bowl XLII Championship. Over 75,000 seats were filled inside the stadium and fans cheered throughout the entire 3-hour celebration.
