The San Francisco 49ers throttled the Minnesota Vikings 34-14 and provided compelling evidence why they are favorites to reach this year’s Super Bowl.

After a slow start, QB Colin Kaepernick completed 6 consecutive passes and tossed a 5-yard TD to rookie WR Quinton Patton. It was 49ers WR Lavelle Hawkins who provided one of the most thrilling plays of the night by returning a kickoff 105 yards for a score late in the second quarter.

The Vikings decided to rest Adrian Peterson and save him for the regular season. To say his presence was missed would be a major understatement, as the Vikings offensive struggled to move the ball against the stellar 49ers defense.
