Can falcons swim? We know that dolphins can, but now we know that falcons can definitely help kids swim. The Atlanta Falcons, that is! On June 22, 2007, Atlanta Falcons players joined many of their fans to advocate swimming safety. Cheerleaders and mascots were on hand to cheer on the kids, who were coached by professional swimmers and other swimming experts about how to have safe fun in the pool and the importance of swimming do's and dont's.
Sponsored by the Boys & Girls Clubs and in cooperation with the USA Swimming Teams, the Atlanta Falcon Youth Foundation helped with a $500,000 grant to ensure that area kids (almost 3,000!) would have good pools to swim in and good teachers to educate them about what to do in the water. The classes held in June, focused on various swimming techniques, safety tips and strategies to reduce the possibility of drowning and how to get the best physical exercise, while still having fun in the pool. Pool safety and having a great time in the water -- those are the main things that the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation at this event.
