2007 COTY

Mike Berg, former head coach of Central High School in Grand Forks, North Dakota is the 2007 NFL High School Football Coach of the Year. Berg was nominated by Vikings QB Brooks Bollinger, who is one of his former players. Coach Berg spent 28 of his 35 years of coaching as Head Coach at Central High School, where he registered an overall record of 141-132, with 16 playoff appearances, 3 state championship appearances and a 2005 state title. Coach Berg said, “My role as a coach is to provide structure and an environment that sets high expectations for everyone involved.”

Berg and a guest will be invited to attend Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, AZ, as a guest of the NFL. Coach Berg also will receive a check for $5,000 and a $10,000 grant will be awarded to the football program at Central High School. All grants are awarded by the NFL Youth Football Fund.
