Jets Stun Patriots - AFC Championship Next!

The Jets defense sacked Tom Brady five times and Mark Sanchez threw three touchdown passes powering the New York Jets to a 28-21 victory over the highly favored New England Patriots, who were playing at home in Foxborough. With this stunning upset, the New York Jets reach their second straight AFC Championship Game and are now headed to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers for a chance to make the trip to Dallas and Super Bowl XLV.

Making this victory all the more stunning was the fact that in their last meeting the Patriots blew the Jets off the field in a 45-3 rout. But the Jets came into this game undaunted and confident. They led at the half 14-3. Brady came out in the third quarter and connected with Alge Crumpler for a 2-yard touchdown pass which was followed up by Sammy Morris' two-point conversion tightening the score 14-11 late in the third quarter. But Sanchez came right back and connected with Santonio Holmes who made a spectacular grab in the end zone for the TD. Putting the final nail in the New England coffin was Shonn Greene who scored on a 16-yard romp.

The Patriots have been almost unbeatable this year. But they continued to struggle in the postseason. This game is their third straight, postseason loss.
