2007 NFL TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Jacquelyn Stevens, a teacher at Washington-Marion Magnet School in Lake Charles, LA, has been named the 2007 NFL Teacher of the Year! The NFL Teacher of the Year program was created in 1990 for NFL players to honor the teachers who had the greatest impact on their educational and life-skills development. Mrs.Stevens was nominated by her former English student, Chiefs WR Eddie Kennison. Kennison said, “Her unquestioned gift as a teacher and ability to ignite a spark that quickly grew into a passion for learning helped me in the classroom, during my athletic endeavors and, most importantly, in my life!” Kennison surprised Mrs.Stevens today during a school assembly, arriving unannounced to deliver the good news about the NFL Teacher of the Year award.

As the 2007 NFL Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Stevens will receive a $2,500 award and a $5,000 grant will be presented to Washington-Marion Magnet High School from the NFL. Mrs. Stevens also will travel to the AFC-NFC Pro Bowl in Honolulu, Hawaii next month as a guest of the NFL. There, Kennison will officially present the award to Stevens during a pre-game ceremony.

Congratulations to Jacquelyn Stevens the 2007 NFL Teacher of the Year.
