Drew Brees

Quarterback

Drew Brees had a remarkable season last year, totaling 5,069 yards and 34 touchdowns. While he did throw 17 interceptions, he was throwing to a receiving corp that was bugged by injuries. This year, even though the Saints did not draft anybody to help out in the passing game, they signed some new talent at wide receiver, and also signed a few offensive linemen to keep him protected in the pocket.

Running Back

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is expected to have another amazing season. He led the league in rushing yards last year, and the Vikings now have Brett Favre this year. His numbers may go down a little bit, but having a veteran like Favre on the team should be a good thing. Peterson should post excellent numbers and carry the team to the playoffs once again.

Wide Receiver

This is the hardest one. I would say Larry Fitzgerald, but I'm picking Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions. He had 1,331 receiving yards in an 0-16 season You have to be good to do that and this season he has a new quarterback in rookie Matt Stafford.

Tight End

Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys is my pick for Tight End. With Terrell Owens gone to Buffalo, Witten should be one of Tony Romo's main targets. Last year he recorded over 900 yards and 4 touchdowns with T.O. on the team. Imagine what he could do without him.

Defense/Special Teams

Although Pittsburgh and Baltimore had outstanding defenses last year, I'm picking the Washington Redskins. Last year, they finished 4th in the league in yards allowed and 6th in points allowed, but they only had 24 sacks and 13 interceptions. Expect that to change, because of this and the additions of veteran defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth and rookie defensive end Brian Orakpo this offseason. Washington's kickoff team was ranked 6th in the league last year.

Wild Card Player

After the spectacular season he had last year, DeAngelo Williams should have another great one this year. He never fumbled last season and scored 18 touchdowns with 1,515 yards, while splitting time with Jonathan Stewart. He wowed us last year, and is sure to do it again with a strong Carolina offensive line and rookie fullback Tony Fiammetta.

Thanks,

Stephen
