The Ad CouncilThe Ad Council is a private, non-profit organization, which identifies pressing social issues. The NFL continues to support The Ad Council's special initiative aimed at addressing the youth obesity crisis in the United States with a dedicated Public Service Announcement (PSA) using their "Be a Player, Get up and Play 60 minutes a Day" campaign message in coordination with the NFL's Play60 Initiative.
Healthy Children's Coalition
The NFL has joined with the Ad Council and their Healthy Children's Coalition to create new public service announcements (PSAs) that carry the NFL's Play60 message. The goal of the Ad Council's Coalition for Healthy Children is to help address the obesity crisis that confronts our nation and its children. The new ads, which feature NFL players Reggie Bush (New Orleans Saints), Antonio Gates (San Diego Chargers) and Jason Witten (Dallas Cowboys), urge families to "get up and play an hour a day."
NickelodeonThis year, the NFL served as the primary partner for Nickelodeon's "Let's Just Play" campaign. "Let's Just Play" and "Play 60" are both initiatives aimed at creating and maintaining healthy lifestyles for kids and getting kids active throughout the day. The NFL and its Clubs also participate in Nickelodeon's "World Wide Day of Play" by engaging youth in team sponsored activities and helping promote daily physical activity.
American Heart AssociationThe NFL PLAY 60 Challenge is a school-based program and awareness campaign designed to promote physical fitness and healthy living to middle-school youth. With the help of the American Heart Association, the NFL PLAY 60 Challenge inspires kids to get the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity every day and helps schools become places that encourage physically active lifestyles year-round.
Action For Healthy KidsAction for Healthy Kids, in partnership with the NFL, developed ReCharge! Energizing After-school(tm), the first national after-school program that fully teaches kids, grades 3-6, about nutrition and physical activity, through teamwork.
The NFL continues to partner with and fund a wide range programs with The Boys & Girls Clubs of America, who continue to improve and enrich many communities The Boys & Girls Clubs of America maintain and help manage the NFL's Youth Education Towns and are associated with the NFL through a variety of other projects.
Nike Let Me PlayIn 2008, The NFL and Nike Let Me Play teamed up to bring the NFL Play 60 Youth Football Festival Clinics in Central Park during the week leading up to the 2008 NFL Draft. The NFL and Nike are committed to building strong and healthy communities through physical activity and sports.
National Dairy CouncilThe NFL and National Dairy Council have joined forces in creating Fuel Up to Play 60, a national in-school program mobilizing youth to combine physical activity with nutritious eating habits. Fuel Up to Play 60 provides playbooks and activation kits to schools K-12 and challenges students to track and improve upon their own health and wellness.
KaBoomThe NFL works with KaBOOM!, a national non-profit bringing play back into the lives of children. In addition to building playgrounds with NFL teams and athletes, KaBOOM! is working hand in hand with the NFL's Play 60 campaign to give grants to communities working to improve their local parks and playgrounds through the KaBOOM! Play Day Program.
The United WayThe NFL and the United Way have one of the longest running public service partnerships of its kind with more than 1,000 PSAs airing over the course of the 35 year relationship. Most recently, the United Way has joined the NFL in the fight to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic. To tie together the league's Play 60 initiative with United Way's new "LIVE UNITED" campaign, three new PSAs will air this coming season to promote youth health and fitness. In addition, the NFL/United Way Hometown Huddle partners local United Way offices with NFL Clubs to conduct events that also spread this importance message.
HopSportsThe HOPSports Training System delivers physical education to many of today's youth with its unique multi-media, technology driven, standards-compliant physical education system. The NFL and some of its Clubs use HOPSports Training Systems to teach and promote physical education at their Youth Education Towns (YET Centers) and at League and Club sponsored events. This technology is another example of how kids can get their 60 minutes of physical activity per day.
NASPEThe National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) partners with the NFL to promote the importance of physical fitness and healthy lifestyles. NASPE's goals include enhancing knowledge and improving professional practices, increasing support for high quality physical education, sport and youth physical activity programs and development of physical education standards.
EA SportsIn collaboration with EA Sports, the NFL hosted a PLAY 60 football festival to celebrate the launch of Madden NFL 10. The partnership showcases the NFL's and EA's commitment to helping kids get active and healthy. The festival brought together hundreds of middle school youth for NFL FLAG football instructional clinics and simulated EA Madden Sports training.
GatoradeThe Gatorade Junior Training Camp (JTC) is a grassroots, community outreach program designed to teach boys and girls age 8-14, football-related skills in a non-contact environment. Through this program, coaches and volunteers can convey the importance of being active for 60 minutes every day as well as life lessons such as teamwork, responsibility, and respect.
JCPenney AfterschoolThe JCPenney Afterschool Fund is a charitable organization committed to providing children in need with access to life-enriching afterschool programs that foster their academic, physical and social development. NFL PLAY 60 and JCPenney Afterschool Fund annually present the "Take a Player to School" sweepstakes where 34 lucky winners participate in an Ultimate Physical Education Class alongside an NFL player.
YMCAThe NFL partners with YMCA by supporting their Healthier Communities Initiatives. This relationship symbolizes another grassroots opportunity to ignite the PLAY 60 movement and help get kids active.
HEALTH-E-tipsThe NFL works with Health-E-tips in order to provide health and wellness tools to fans and employees. Health-E-tips shares in the NFL PLAY 60 mission to fight childhood obesity and help people adopt healthy habits. They are providing specialized quick fitness routines to NFL employees and distributing three minute activities recommended by NFL players to all of the organization's partner schools.
