Mario Williams celebrates a sack in the Texans win over the Broncos
DENVER (6-8) vs. HOUSTON (7-7)
The Texans scored 1st and by halftime held a small lead, 10-6. The Broncos had trouble getting in the endzone with the defensive pressure of Mario Williams and the Texans ‘D’ in the 1st half and only scored 1 TD in the 2nd half. The Texans poured it on in the 4th quarter, scoring 2 TDs. The Broncos couldn’t handle the pressure and the Texans stepped up at the right time to notch the win, 31-13. With this win, the Texans keep their playoff hopes alive.
Broncos: QB Jay Cutler completed 27 of 39 passes for 254 yards and 1 TD. He also rushed for 11 yards.
WR Brandon Marshall racked up 107 yards receiving and TE Tony Scheffler pulled in 100 yards receiving with 1 TD.
Texans: QB Sage Rosenfels completed 16 of 27 passes for 200 yards with 1 TD and 1 interception. He also rushed for a TD.
RB Ron Dayne rushed for 67 yards and 1 TD.
WR Andre Johnson gained 87 yards receiving with 1 TD.
DE Mario Williams recorded 3 ½ sacks and 7 tackles.
Texans DE Mario Williams has a franchise-record 13 sacks on the season. He now has 17½ career sacks, making him the Texans' all-time sack leader.
Broncos WR Brandon Marshall caught a career-high 11 receptions.
Broncos LB Ian Gold suffered a right knee injury and TE Daniel Graham left with a left ankle injury. Neither returned.
