Top Undrafted NFL Stars

Your friends are choosing sides for some playground football. What's worse than being picked last?

How about not being picked at all?

That's what just happened to the hundreds of college players who were not picked in last week's NFL Draft. Sure it's discouraging but most are not giving up.  They are working hard to join NFL teams as undrafted free agents.

So if you're picked last, or not at all, don't get down!  Check out these guys who were not picked at all in the NFL draft but went on to become stars!

Tony Romo, QB –  Dallas Cowboys (2003)

NO ONE picked the current starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys! That's amazing. Romo has shown he belongs and then some, leading the Cowboys to playoff appearances in 2006, 2007 and 2009. So far in his career, Romo has completed 2,439 passes for 29,565 yards, with 208 touchdowns!

Antonio Gates, TE –  San Diego Chargers (2003)

Gates is an eight-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro who was named to the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team. He was also awarded the NFL Alumni's Tight End of the Year Award in 2005.

Wes Welker, WR – Miami Dolphins (2004)

Welker is a five-time Pro Bowler, two-time first-team All-Pro and led the NFL in receptions three times.  He currently has 949 career receptions for 9,358 and 48 TDs.

Kurt Warner, QB – Green Bay Packers (1994)

Warner was a four-time Pro Bowler, was named an All-Pro twice, was NFL MVP twice and Super Bowl MVP once. He also holds the top three Super Bowl passing records.  When he finally got his phone call from the Rams, he was stocking shelves in a grocery. Never give up on your dreams!

Josh Cribbs, WR/KR - Cleveland Browns (2005)

During his eight NFL seasons, Cribbs returned 387 career kickoffs for 10,015 yards and eight touchdowns. He also ran back 195 punt returns for 2,154 yards and three scores. He was named to three Pro Bowls and ranks sixth overall in league history in return yardage.

Jeff Garcia, QB – San Francisco 49ers (1999)

After spending a year in Canada, Garcia became the San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback. He then went on to make four Pro Bowl appearances in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2007—the first three with the 49ers and the final one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Priest Holmes, RB – Baltimore Ravens  (1997)

After leaving the Ravens to join the Chiefs, Priest Homes became a superstar. He ended his career as the Chiefs all-time leader in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns. He is also a three-time Pro Bowler, a three-time All-Pro and was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2002.
