NFL RUSH
The NFL RUSH Top 5 Super Bowls - Number One!

This year is the XLVIII (48th) Super Bowl!  So many great games, so little time...so we're honing it down to the FIVE BEST SUPER BOWLS EVER for you.

Be sure to leave a comment if you agree or disagree with our choices, or if you think you can guess the next one we’ll be posting.

After much consideration, some arguing, and even a few tears, we present the NFL RUSH Top 5 Super Bowls List

#5 - Super Bowl XIII: Pittsburgh 35, Dallas 31

#4 - Super Bowl XXXVI - New England 20, St. Louis 17

#3 - Super Bowl XXIII - San Francisco 20, Cincinnati 16

#2 - Super Bowl XLIII - Pittsburgh 27, Arizona 23

And now the number one Super Bowl of all-time…

Super Bowl XLII - New York Giants 17, New England Patriots 14

Super Bowl XLII featured a match-up between the heavily favored New England Patriots and the New York Giants. The Patriots arrived already billed as the greatest team in NFL history. They were not only competing for a fourth Super Bowl title in eight years; they were aiming to become the first team in NFL history to achieve a 19–0 record.

The Giants made a statement opening the game with the longest drive in Super Bowl history, a 16-play, 77-yard march that consumed 9 minutes, 59 seconds.  Kicker Lawrence Tynes booted a 32-yard field goal that gave New York a 3–0 lead.

New England responded with its own scoring drive, capped by Laurence Maroney’s 1-yard TD run for a 7–3 lead.

That would be it for first-half scoring, which was a shocker because the Patriots offense was awesome that season. The Giants defense rattled Tom Brady and the Patriots high-powered offense sputtered.

Early in the fourth quarter, Giants QB Eli Manning completed a 45-yard pass to rookie tight end Kevin Boss. This highlighted a 7-play, 80-yard drive, which Manning capped with a 5-yard touchdown pass to David Tyree.

The Giants now led the Patriots 10–7 lead with 11:05 left in the game. Could the improbably upset happen?  Or would Brady get New England to 19-0?

New England got the ball at its own 20 with 7:54 to play and Tom Brady completed passes to Wes WelkerMaroney and Randy Moss.  With 2:42 left in the game, Brady found Moss for the 14–10 lead.

New York got the ball on their own 17 with 2:39 left and three timeouts remaining. Manning worked the Giants to their 44 yard line when one of the most amazing plays in Super Bowl history happened.

Manning dropped back and immediately found himself under a fierce New England pass rush. He eluded Adalius Thomas and then broke free from the grasps of Jarvis Green and Richard Seymour, both of whom had Manning by the jersey.

Manning then heaved the ball down the middle of the field, where Tyree and New England's Rodney Harrison went up for the ball. Tyree made a  spectacular, leaping, one-handed catch and maintained possession by pinning the ball against his helmet as he fell to the ground. It was amazing! The play went for 32 yards and kept the drive alive.

With 35 seconds left in the game, on 3rd-and-11, Manning lofted a pass to the end zone where Plaxico Burress caught the ball for a touchdown, giving the Giants a huge 17–14 Super Bowl upset victory.

Was Super Bowl XLII the greatest of all time?

i'm a cowboys fan and i can't stand the new york giants, the new england patriots were undefeated and the giants were underdogs. But the fact that eli got out of all of those defenders and tyree caught that catch, this has to be the greatest super bowl of all time!

I do LOVE that the Patriots were stopped from going undefeated, but guess who DID go undefeated: the 1972 Miami Dolphins. And they didn't include it ANYWHERE on this list (and even if I weren't a Dolphins fan, I'd be mad)? Sure, that makes sense...
