Team Report Cards: Vikings Can't Be a One-Man Show

2012 Record: 10-6

Grade: B+

The Good:

  • - The Vikings finished the season on a 4-game winning streak and reached the playoffs for the 27th time in franchise history.
  • - RB Adrian Peterson had a career season by rushing for over 2,000 yards.
  • - In the offseason they acquired Seattle’s first round pick and added free agent WR Greg Jennings.

The Bad:

  • - QB Christian Ponder’s inconsistencies led to an anemic passing attack.
  • - Losing WR Percy Harvin and DB Antoine Winfield will make things harder this season.
  • - Highlighted by the units meager 10 interceptions, their pass defense was a problem all year.

The Future:

  • - Draft Positions #23 & #25: LB Manti Te’o, WR Keenan Allen, and QB Geno Smith
  • - Free Agent Targets: WR Brandon Lloyd, CB Rashean Mathis, and DT Richard Seymour
  • - Trade: Considering the lack of sure-thing first rounders, the Vikings would be smart to trade down and add more picks.
