Team Report Cards: Bears Good but Not Good Enough
When you go over the 2012 season, it's hard to believe this Bears team didn't make the playoffs.  While QB Jay Cutler and WR Brandon Marshall had a great connection, no other WR really made any impact which led to a predictable offense.  It seems the Bears are just a few pieces away from being contenders in 2013.

Chicago Bears

2012 Record: 10-6

Grade: B

The Good:

  • - Their defense led the league with 24 interceptions
  • - They had the 5th ranked total defense
  • - Added a trio of quality players in OT Jermon Bushrod, TE Martellus Bennett and LB D.J. Williams

The Bad:

  • - Ranked 29th in total passing yards
  • - They lost 4 of the final 7 games last season
  • - Released future Hall of Famer LB Brian Urlacher

The Future:

  • - Draft Position #20: LB Alec Ogletree or WR Cordarrelle Patterson
  • - Free Agent Targets: LB Karlos Dansby, OT Eric Winston and RB Felix Jones
  • - Trade: They should trade up to get one of the premier OTs in the draft. QB Jay Cutler can’t run the offense while he’s running for his life.
