|"A night I won't soon forget."||
A night I won't soon forget. The evening started off with so much excitement in the atmosphere. Throughout Radio City Music Hall, reporters and fans were everywhere. Even the Vince Lombardi Trophy and the 44 Super Bowl rings were on display. It was so cool. I waited with excitement for the 2011 NFL Draft to begin.
As the Draft got underway, I positioned myself so that I could view the stage for the first pick. Roger Goodell walked up to the podium and announced "With the first pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, Carolina Panthers select Cam Newton"! It was so exciting, Cam, who played quarterback for the University of Auburn, came down the aisle where I was standing and slapped hands with me! It was the best feeling in the world! Von Miller, a linebacker from Texas A&M, was chosen with the second overall pick by the Denver Broncos and was an incredibly nice person as well.
Thursday night was filled with even more excitement as I got to view more picks thereafter, all the while eagerly awaiting the New York Giants pick. Once the Giants selected Prince Amukamara, a cornerback from the University of Nebraska, I headed downstairs to the media room for his press conference. What a great pick for my team, the Giants. One of Amukamara's comments was: "When I saw the 201 area code come up on my phone I knew it was the Giants calling." I sat alongside all of the media as they lobbed their question out to Prince. It was definitely one of the most interesting experiences of my life.
To top the night off I was interviewed by an ESPN writer who saw me slap hands with Cam Newton. He asked me what my connection to Cam was, and I told him my story about being a reporter for NFLRUSH.com. The next day the article was posted on ESPN's website. Words can't describe how great it felt to cover the 2011 NFL Draft for NFLRUSH.com.
The NFL rocks!
