NFL RUSH
Grading the Quarterback Class

The NFL draft is coming up and NFL fans are very excited. Besides the release of the movie Draft Day, the draft will be one to watch because of the intriguing class of quarterbacks. Three quarterbacks, Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M, Blake Bortles of Central Florida, and Teddy Bridgewater of Louisville are projected to go in the top 15 picks and others are projected to go off the boards by the end of the 2nd round. Here is a look at the top three quarterbacks in May's draft.

1. Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M
Why Manziel May Be Great: There are few players in history that have run as well as Johnny Football. The former Heisman trophy winner is almost impossible to catch and one of the best scramblers of all time. He can also throw on the run and can pcik apart even the best of defenses (see Alabama). Manziel had a terrific pro day that caught the attention of many.
Why Manziel May Not Be Great: Unlike most quarterbacks, Johnny Manziel has a habit of running a lot and can be reckless. His throwing mechanics are not ideal and is not the traditional quarterback. Manziel has also had distractions off the field.
Where Manziel Will Be Picked: Because of his great athletic ability, Johnny Football should be picked in the top 10 picks and possibly in the top 5.
Best Fit for Manziel: Cleveland Browns. The Browns are in need of a franchise quarterback and have the 4th pick of the draft. Cleveland has receiver Josh Gordon and running back Ben Tate and one of the best offensive lines in football.
Will Manziel Be Great?- Despite his athletic ability, I would prefer him on my Madden team and not my NFL team. He may get injured quickly and will attract a media circus that could tear apart a season.

2. Blake Bortles, Central Florida
Why Bortles May Be Great: Bortles came out of nowhere last season to emerge as one of the top prospects in the draft. He is more of a traditional quarterback with a good arm who can run if he must. Bortles could be the next Andrew Luck and seems to be one of the most well rounded prospects. And Bortles was a pleasant suprise in the combine and hin his pro day.
Why Bortles May Not Be Great: The UCF Knights are not in the hardest conference in college football and did not face many proven opponents. Bortles' hardest opponent was Baylor, a team that gave up 8 touchdowns to current Jets quarterback Geno Smith a year ago.
Where Bortles Will be Picked: Top 10. Bortles is desired by most of the teams in the top 10 and is almost guaranteed to go off the board quickly.
Best Fit: Jacksonville Jaguars. Bortles went to college in the same state and the Jaguars need a franchise quarterback. They have receivers Cecil Shorts and Justin Blackmon and a better offensive line than when Blaine Gabbert was selected.
Will Bortles be Great?- He has a better chance at greatness than Manziel, but he still has a lot to prove. He seems to have a lot in common with Blaine Gabbert, but Bortles is a prospect that will be interesting to watch. I think that he will last longer than Manziel, but not by much.

3. Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville
Why Bridgewater Could Be Great: Teddy Bridgewater is the most NFL ready of the three prospects and was projected to be the top pick before the season. Bridgewater can run and can throw in a pro style offense and can be a Pro Bowl player. He is also a leader and seems to have all of the skills needed for success in the NFL.
Why Bridgewater Could Not Be Great: Bridgewater's stock fell from top 5 to top 20 after his pro day. He was leapfrogged by Manziel and Bortles and could possibly stay in the green room after Derek Carr from Fresno State. Bridgewater needs to be in the perfect system or he will not succeed.
Where will Bridgewater Be Picked?- Top 15. He fell after his pro day but should not fall too far in the draft.
Best Fit: Tennessee Titans. The Titans have quarterback guru Ken Whisenhunt as a head coach and are in a warm weather environment. They are in need of a leader after Chris Johnson left and need competition for the often injured Jake Locker.
Will Bridgewater be Great?- Yes. In fact, he should be the best in his class. He has no major weaknesses and the pro day was a fluke. I would definitely want Bridgewater to quarterback my team.

its bortles. Manziel is like Tebow and runs around too much. Plus the offense in the NFL isn't like an SEC formation.
