The San Francisco 49ers (2-2) answered critics who cast doubts about their title-contender status with a dominant 35 -11 win over the St. Louis Rams (1-3).
A big night from RB Frank Gore (157 yards and 1 TD), steady play from QB Colin Kaepernick (2 TD passes) and the 49ers trademark defense (5 sacks) combined to take control of the contest and shut the door on the Rams.
After taking a 3-0 lead early in the game the Rams were unable to mount much of an offensive attack. QB Sam Bradford completed only 19-41 of his passes and leading rusher RB Daryl Richardson managed just 19 yards on 12 carries.
