There are some big names in this year’s rookie class and if some of these names seem familiar there’s a reason. Hall of Famer, Howie Long may have retired a long time ago, but his son, defensive end Chris Long, was the 2nd pick in the draft this year. Howie played at the defensive end position with the Raiders for 13 seasons from 1981 to 1993, so Chris will have some big footsteps to follow.
That’s not the only Hall of Fame name out there, Patriots rookie WR Matthew Slater is the son of Hall of Fame tackle Jackie Slater. Jackie played for 20 years with the Rams. Matthew will be playing a position where speed and agility will be key, instead of strength and size like his dad. Both these rookies hope to make their dads proud as they begin their NFL careers.
