ANTONIO GATES GOES BACK TO SCHOOL

Antonio Gates Goes Back to School

Antonio Gates

On Tuesday, one boy in San Diego became a big deal when he took Chargers TE Antonio Gates to school. Kody, a 9-year old from Escondido, CA, is a 2nd grader at Miller Elementary School that was one of the 34 lucky winners of the NFL Take a Player to School sweepstakes. What a prize! Antonio picked up Kody at home and took him to school in a limo, while excited students cheered. He signed autographs and met with all of Kody's classmates and even participated with Kody in a spelling test. Kody was definitely the most popular student at school on Tuesday.

Antonio didn't just go to school to watch, he also was in the classroom helping the teacher and even sat next to Kody in class! Antonio also gave the students a head start on their PLAY 60 for the day by showing them cool exercise tips.

At the assembly, the students were given the chance to ask Antonio questions: "What do you do after you play football?" asked a student. Antonio replied that he goes home, eats and gets plenty of rest. It was an unforgettable day for everyone. I think Kody said it best when we asked him what he thought about his day at school and he told us with an enormous smile, "Fun."

It's not all fun and games when NFL pros go back to school. Antonio's season of hitting other players too hard, humiliating opponents and not sharing the ball was finally noted on this discipline slip.
