BRETT FAVRE IS A VIKING!!

Favre Vikings

Brett Favre is the newest member of the Minnesota Vikings!!

The future Hall of Fame Quarterback and former long-time member of the Green Bay Packers still wears number 4 but now it's on the uniform of their division rivals: The Minnesota Vikings.

Favre, now 39 years old, decided to retire twice in the past two years only to change his mind both times. In March of 2008 he announced his retirement from the Green Bay Packers but changed his mind a couple of months later and wanted to play again in Green Bay. By then the Packers had committed to their new Quarterback, Favre's backup, Aaron Rogers. The Packers decided to trade their star QB and 3 time NFL MVP to the New York Jets where he played for the 2008 season.

Favre had a decent year with the Jets but had problems with his throwing arm late in the season. So, after the season was over, he decided to, once again, retire.

On this news, the Jets released Favre from his contract. That's when the Minnesota Vikings became interested in signing the 10 time Pro-Bowler as their Quarterback.

Brett spent the summer practicing and working out in his home state of Mississippi making it appear that he wanted to come back to the NFL. That is, until about a month ago when Favre announced that he wasn't going to come back and play another season in the NFL.  “It was the hardest decision I’ve ever made,” Favre said. “I didn’t feel like physically I could play at a level that was acceptable.”

That is, until today when Favre signed with the Vikings saying, "I am excited about the opportunity to join this football team," Favre said. "From ownership, to coaching to the players, it is evident that everyone in the Vikings organization is committed to bringing the fans of Minnesota a Championship. I am eager to join my new teammates and get to work towards that goal."

Favre is the NFL's career leading passer with 65,127 yards, 464 Touchdowns, 5,720 completions, 9,280 attempts, most wins by a starting Quarterback with 169, most seasons with 3,000 or more passing yards (17) and longest pass completion - 99yards(shared with several others). Favre also holds the record for most consecutive starts at quarterback with 269 games (291 including playoffs) for the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets, and is only one behind the longest streak in NFL history held by former Minnesota Viking Jim Marshall.

With Brett Favre behind center for the Minnesota Vikings, do you think they have what it takes to win the Super Bowl?
