As part of NFL Draft festivities, 800 New York area fifth and sixth graders joined the Commissioner, top NFL Draft prospects, including Georgia quarterback Matt Stafford and Texas Tech Wide Receiver Michael Crabtree, and current and former Jets and Giants players for the second annual NFL PLAY 60 Youth Football Festival in New York City's Central Park on April 23-24. Kids had the chance to learn NFL FLAG football skills alongside NFL players, participate in HOPSports interactive fitness workouts, and talk about their healthy habits. The kids were also treated to appearances by the New York Jets Flight Crew, Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders, and Eagles' mascot Swoop. At the conclusion of the event, the NFL donated NFL FLAG Football kits to each participating school, to ensure our youth will continue to PLAY 60!
Also at this year's PLAY 60 Youth Football Festival, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders honored the four student winners of the Keep Gym in School 2008 Fitness Challenge. NFL Network's Keep Gym in School is a program of PLAY 60 that promotes physical education and activity in America's schools and provides physical education grants to schools across the country.  The winners who received trophies on field were David B. (age 14) an 8th grader from Poe Middle School in Annandale VA, Alexis A. (age 13) a 7th grader from Jardine Middle School in Wichita KS, Kourtney H. (age 14) an 8th grader from Truman Middle School in Marrero LA and Adrian G. (age 14) an 8th grader from Bethune School in Phoenix AZ.
