Week 14

Each week during the 2012 season, while two teams competed on the field, two deserving youth health and fitness projects from the corresponding cities faced-off here in the NFL PLAY 60 DonorsChoose.org Showdown. Your voting helped NFL PLAY 60 fund 30 health and wellness projects, impacting more than 10,000 students across the country!

Now the Showdown is back for a special Super Bowl edition!

Based on fan votes, NFL PLAY 60 will fully fund the winning project below, along with additional project in that winning community, while the other project will get 50% funding toward its goal. Vote now!

City: Baltimore, Maryland
School: Maree G Farring Elementary School 203
Teacher: Mrs. Laut

My students need:

My students attend an inner city public school and we do not have a budget for pinnies or other essential physical education equipment. Do you know how hard it is to play a game and not know who is on your team? Please help my students get the most of their physical education class with a simple piece of equipment, the pinnie, to make teams less confusing while playing games.

City: East Palo Alto, California
School:  Brentwood Academy
Teacher:  Mr. Harris

My students need:

My students reside in an impoverished area in a diverse community. Many of our students are new immigrants to the community, struggling with learning a second, language and with the confidence needed to succeed under these conditions. This project will help expand our school’s unicycle club, which would brighten the lives of many students with significant disabilities. Learning to ride a unicycle gives children a skill that is very rare and garners them positive attention from peers and the community.
